As an ex Parra supporter and now living in Melbourne (supporting the Storm) there is amount of truth in what Denis says, in the same context that Parra should dump league and move to Union. He doesn't look outside of Parramatta anymore.
Very simply, it is not about attendance, it is about ADVERTISERS. Kill of the storm in Melbourne and your sponsors will drop league like a hot potato as you have eliminated the 2nd largest City from their budget - And the 10000 loyal Storm supporters will switch to Union (which already has a following in Victoria).
Denis would die if he came down here and see the crap that the Storm cop and still do a good job - with ADDITIONAL NO FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM THE NRL (thanks to him). The AFL laugh at the way the NRL handles the Canberra, North Queensland, Auckland and Melbourne franchises. They have openly stated that Canberra is next on their target and relocating a Melbourne AFL team to Canberra will happen in the next 3 -5 years.
If you want Melbourne to go then first determine if it is viable - that means putting in place the same structure as is in the AFL - with additional funds to at least cover relocation expenses and advertising.
If Melbourne closes - the storm supports will follow the Ra Ra sport (because they have the brains and money to do it properly) and League will be a game gone to history.
Denis used to be a visionary - I believe it is now tunnel vision.
