That's all well and good Moffo, will you be gloating about every Melbourne crowd figure from now until the end of the year?

One good crowd doesn't make up for the rest of their poor averages. They are the dominant team in the NRL, well out on top and only now, with plenty of people from NSW and QLD still down there, can they bring in a good crowd. I'm not saying I agree with Fitzgerald, but IMO you're just jumping on the anti-Fitzy, pro-Storm bandwagon and you'll be off as soon as Melbourne return to their poor figures.

While i'm sure there were still a few Queenslanders who stayed on longer to watch their team the Broncos, i don't think there'd be many, if any at all NSW people who did the same last night. The vast majority don't even go and watch their own teams in Sydney at home, so what are the chances of them going to see two teams who play out of cities that they despise? There's two chances, f**k all and none.

Reports this morning of a QLD 5:1 NSW split of the fans at Origin III would mean if any there'd be maybe "a few" NSW people at the game and more than likely several thousand QLDers.......all back to normal (8000) in a couple of weeks.

A few.

either that,

or most of the Victorian public were supporting Queensland, as there has always beeen a strong rivalry between NSW and the Vics

Reports also said that 80% of tickets to Origin were purchased by Victorians so that'd make it around only 11,000 were from interstate. Take away the NSW people who as i said i doubt very much would hang around to watch a Melbourne V Brisbane game, do you honestly think that 'several thousand' QLD's stayed back for the game last Friday night?

Anyway lets just be very generous and say 3000 of those 11,000 stayed for the game then that leaves us with around 12,500 Melbournians that went to the game which is about 3000 more than average. Whichever way you look at it, it was a great turnout and even more so great for rugby league in Melbourne.

Oh and BTW we average over 9,000 not 8,000. Just thought i'd clarify that ;-)

Do it consistently and not on the back of the games premiere showpiece, and it will be great.

Well i'll be there doing my bit. I just knew that no matter how good the crowd was last night that there'd be some around here that would find negatives about it and it turns out that i was right. But it's good to see that there's also some out there that are sincerely happy the Storm drew a good gate no matter what the circumstances are.

The sooner they get rid of him the club will be so much better off. Without being a smart, i honestly don't think Parra will ever win a title in the future with him at the helm. When he goes that's when there'll be more stability at the club and that's when they stand much more of a chance to be successful. That's just my opinion of course.

Whos being negative?

Youre putting this massive spin on it ...jumping from "a few" to "a generous 3000"...... I' m just telling it as it is.

15k is an average crowd.
