I listened to it on the radio last night, and from all acounts Rooney and Joe Cole were the stand-outs for England.

There were 4 goals in the first 20 minutes or so, with Rooney scoring the first, Denmark equalising, Cole scoring, then Denamrk equalising again. Then the Danes must've scored their 3rd in the final 15 minutes cause I missed the end.

------------------James----------------
G. Neville---Terry---Upson---A. Cole
Beckham---Butt---Gerrard---J. Cole
-----------Heskey---Rooney----------

I'm pretty sure that was the starting line-up.

Lampard for Gerrard.
Joe cole played ok, gave the ball away too much though.

David Jmes can consider himself lucky not to get red-carded in the 1st half. James should have stopped Denmark's 1st goal.

Yep, that'd be the Nicky Butt that Pele said was Englands best player in last years world cup.

A few 'not crap' games in an at times woeful England side in ONE competition does NOT a good player make!! Did England even HAVE a midfield in the game they lost against Brazil!?!?...If they did - I sure didn't see it that day!!

Too bad 'England's best player' can't command a deadset regular spot in his DOMESTIC CLUB'S midfield!! Hmmmmm!!??! Didn't even notice the bugger was on the pitch from the highlights yetserday to boot!! If Nicky Butt is one of the best 3 or 4 midfielders England can STILL come up with on a consistent basis - then they will not be winning any competitions any time in the forseeable future! Full stop! Scott Parker is 10 times the player Butt is. Lampard 25 times, Murphy 50 times and Scholes & Gerrard 100 times....and I could go on like this!!!

Back 2 the game - Upson's challenge for the penalty was silly and unnecessary - and Robinson should have fair diunkum CHOKED on the shot he spilled for the Danes' winner! Very, very sloppy England performance indeed!!

You're being a bit harsh on Butty there. He's never pretended to be a flashy, skillful player, but he is what England need. A no-nonsense holding midfielder that will protect the defence, allowing the other midfielders to attack. But in saying that, it was a ridiculous decision for him to start ahead of Phil Neville, who plays the same way and has been in the form of his life this season (arguably the most consistent player in the premier league).

In a few years Parker will probably be better than any of them (he's got the potential to be the next Keane), but at the moment England need a Butt or Neville.

By the way, I'm pretty sure that Pele called Butt the best player of the tournament, not just England's best. Unfortunately he then got an injury when it finally looked like he may get a regular spot in the Man Utd side, and hasn't got back into that form since.

Both Neville's are garbage! You'd be better off with Mkandawire from Hereford in there!
Obviously someone who hasn't watched much of Man Utd this season. Gary has probably had his best start ever to a season, and Phil has been simply immense. There has been a lot of talk about how Keane is back to his best, but it's been Phil that has allowed him to concentrate on his more attacking game. Yet to have a bad game since moving into the defensive midfield position, and along with Silvestre and Howard is most to thank for us having the best defense in the league.

But I forget, it's the 'trend' to laugh at the Nevilles.

lol that reminds me of a song Leeds fans have for the Neville boys

Gary Neville shags his brother
And his sister
And his mother
All the Neville’s shag each other
DIRTY LITTLE BASTARDS!

Hehe, I was wasn't I. But the difference was, I wasn't defending his performances, I was defending him as a player. He just isn't cut out to play in the english game. He really needs to get back to Italy so he can show why he was so highly rated before the move to Man Utd, hopefully one of the Italian clubs buy him from Chelsea in the next couple of years.
