Did Lowrie make the right decision?

cant blame lowrie. but looking at that makes me more depressed. a dominant and skillful half could have got us a try there in about 3 different ways.

would have been great to see the ball go to hayne, hayne step off his left, attract those two storm defenders, pass it the the widest parra player in that shot and watch him go in under the posts.

A try was there if he had passed it to Hayne. Hayne step off the left and there were only a couple of defenders to the right after the step.

Reddy or Grothe would've been in.


But yeah, Morts should've realized it was the last and ran straight up as 1st receiver

I was going to watch this game again at some point but I am with you, this picture depresses me greatly, I was at the other end of the field and didn't realise how badly we had them on that play and unfotunately for us one of the players you don't want kicking on the last was the only one who wanted the ball.......

Like 2001, I don't think i can watch this game again

I think there was another occassion where Reddy ran the football on the last tackle, not knowing it was the last.

It was last play and Lowrie was given the ball. He shouldn't have been passed the ball in the first place. He's not a last tackle option it was poor organizing by those around him.

Can't blame Lowrie. His efforts over the past 6 weeks or so have been instrumental to the team even getting a chance to put a kick in to potentially get us a try in a GF.

Especially considering the club did not offer him a job for 2010.

Like it or not Lowrie's performances on the field kept Mateo on the bench???

I'm sure in hindsight he would have passed the ball to Hayne given his time over again but that's football.

Certainly not Lowrie's fault by any means, he did what most halves would have done, execution was unfortunately what you would expect from a backrower.

Where were one of the halves?

It is easy to criticise based on the still photo.

If he passes right, the Storm defence go up on Hayne. Hayne might score, or he might drop the ball or just get tackled.

If the ball goes wider to the right, the time it takes for those two or three passes means the Storm have time to slide right, meaning we either get tackled, bundled into touch or score near the corner. There may be a Storm winger just out of shot.

If Lowrie (and I agree Robson, Mateo or Mortimer had to be there to take that pass!) threads the needle with the grubber Slater might have saved the day or Hayne may have scored, who knows? Maybe we get a repeat set.

If we score out to the right, then there is a huge pressure kick for Burt to equalise.

I think based on that passage of play, the grubber was probably the right option, however it needed to be taken by one of our playmakers. Most likely result to be in our favour.

He should never have been at first receiver in the first place. I can't fault him for it, Morts or Robbo or Mateo or even Hayne or Inu should have been in there screaming for it for a play...Todd did the best you can expect from a backrower in that scenario.

Yeah why was Todd at first receiver anyway? They should have been a bit more organised.
