Did Riolo call Henry's bluff?

By asking Henry to state his options for the future, has let the Furner cat out of the bag. Riolo knew something about this and how the Cowboys have Henry nearly signed -up and the Raiders have an agreement with Furner. Methinks Todd would like Furnsie as coach.

 geez, there is some speculation floating around isnt there

is it at all possible Henry is committed to this club as he has stated publically on a number of occasions and TC is just pussy footing around because he's genuinely not sure what he wants to do?

Shocking im sure... but is it at all possible?

f**k I remember Schif publically stating that he was committed to Canberrra, loved the place and wouldnt think of leaving.

Furner being the next coach of this club .... well why not !! ... afterall he was born in the right family.

In all fairness, we did win a cuppla games pretty well whilst henry was on origin duty, perhaps Furnsie might be the answer, if Henry goes he will be the only option anyway

Neil was interviewed on ABC radio this morning. He basically said he was locked in until end of 2009, and wasn’t going to speculate any further. He basically put the rumor to bed that he was looking for a release before his contract was up. He also said he was confident that Todd has made a decision and should have all contract negotiations sorted out by this morning. He said he was confident that Todd will re-sign with the Raiders today.

He also made an interesting comment on the rumor that Todd asked for a get-out clause in his contract if he (Neil) left the club. He mentioned that it may have been the other way around, and that Todd may have asked for a get out clause if Neil stayed with the club beyond 09 (with tongue firmly planted in cheek).

Further to that, NH mentioned on ABC this arvo that he has indeed had an approach from the Cowboys which has triggered contract extension talks with the Raiders next week.

Neil Henry bleeds green and will stay.

Time for management to continue forking out the big bucks to keep those that are important to the success of this club.

At least a coach's contract doesn't eat up your salary cap - so it's well worth the gamble to sign Henry long term (not that I think it's a risk anyway).

Worst case scenario is we sack him for poor performance, pay out the contract (or part thereof) and start again. But if he's popular with the players it's by far the safest move a club can make.
