I mean, scoreboard wise it’s a huge choke. However, it was pretty clear that aside from our 20minute burst, Penrith were well on top for the rest. We made something like 50more tackles in the first half. At one stage we were 5/11. That change of wind roaring behind them munted our kicking game and I don’t think the coaching staff and Reynolds were expecting it, and Cleary went god mode. It went to script really, we got worn down by a well oiled machine for most of the game.

A heartbreaking loss for sure, but from where we came I’ll look at the positives.

No, Brisbane just historically f**ked it. You don’t lead by 16 and get mowed down.
You’re right, but we built no pressure other than scoreboard pressure. They were all over us all night (other than that 20minute burst) and because of their pressure we had absolutely nothing in the tank. The statistics back that up. We f**ked it in the first 35 just as much as the last 20.

I won't lie, feeling tempted to make a "You're Welcome, Broncos" banner and fly it up to their fan day today

Genuine question.

Has Reynolds ever played a great game in a high stakes match?

2014 GF I remember him being decent but has he ever absolutely stamped his authority on the opposition?

I let my dislike for Penrith cloud my judgement. I didn't realise how enjoyable it would be to see Broncos fans lose another one.

The tears in the crowd were food for the soul.
The Northern End - that’s where most Bronx fans were - I was sat up in the tier behind the goals. They were partying like 1999 at 24-8, smug as hell and telling me ‘f**k Souths are dumb letting Reyno go blah blah blah’.

Then it turned. But they still led so it was all ok. When Cleary cuts in, runs untouched to go behind the posts, the air was sucked out that zone faster than a Titanic submersible full of billionaires. I’ve never seen so many elated neutrals and ‘go get f**ked ya merkins’ directed to Bronx fans. Just a rugby league treasure to behold. Makes up for many shitshows for parts of the fan base this year. Panthers are truly goat atm.

He had Keary next to him in 2014 and he’s gone on to win 2 more.
Reyno was there in 2013 prelim fiasco and the 2021 gf where his golden boot eluded him for a tying kick.
