Disappointment at Penrith Stadium

Of course it would be prefered to be in the top 4 but considering since the start of the year Parramatta have lost

Lyon & Vaealiki - 2 International centres
Cayless - 1 International prop (who is captain of his country)
Cannings - One of the best young forwards in the game
Grothe - The teams #1 winger
Dykes - The teams 1st choice halfback

and then on top of this backup & regualr bench players like
Prince, Peek, O'Dwyer, Muspratt and also Petersen, Witt and others who have missed time.

Give PArramatta their full side for more then 3 weeks a season and improvment will come.

INjuries are not the only reason for the drop but they are a major factor.

I really thought the forwards went well today its just there was no plan or organisation at all the team looked leaderless. Is therea half back that can lead us around the park or not.

I give it to Thormann alot but even he could've done a better job today.

No, and there hasn't been one for three years. Taylor may have had problems in defence but he could organise and direct the team. No one since has been able to do that on a consistent basis apart from the odd game here and there.

Just on Grothe!

spoke to him briefly last night, he looks like playing next week and he's having talks with management this week regarding his future but seems to think he'll be staying as the club has an option on him.

Even my Dad, who is a staunch Panther and doesn't like Parra, commented to me on the way to the game that he was shocked by Parramatta's injury list.

To be fair, we have had extremely bad luck over the last 2 seasons in terms of injuries. Yes, every team has them, but not on the scale of both quality and quantity that we have had.

A perfect example is Cannings - everyone knew what a difference he would make to the team once he settled in, yet he has played, what, 3 games?

But all is not lost. We're still only 2 out of the 8, with a good chance at winning next weekend which will keep us in touch, and a few players like Grothe and Cannings ready to come back soon to add a bit more to us.

If we can just hold on to the tail end of the 8 until we start getting some players back, we might be able to have a run to the semis post-Rd. 20

I wonder who will drop out for cannings and grothe. Tsulos was getting his shoulder checked out and i think he may have reinjured it.

I'm witcha amigo but the stats were alarming..Penrith missed 55 tackles...I thought sides were supposed to lose with that amount of missed tackles.

We had 62% of the pill at stages of the 1st half but the worrying factor is that we can't, and haven't been able to do for a while (sans Manly) is put sides away when we have the opportunity.

When Penrith had the opportunities there was 18 points..bang...just like that and the wind was out of our sails.

The lack of options and killer punch is always our downfall.

Looking at the ladder doesn't fill you as much hope as we can't really drop any sides around us as they have a bye up their sleeves as well. The only ones withe no byes left are the ones at the top of the ladder....darn naggit!!!!!

I think the fight is on for spots 7-8....1-6 is pretty much stitched up considering the Drags have 2 byes up their sleeve and have a resonably easy run home. I suspect the Cowboys may fold and it is anyones guess about the Tiges after their past fortnight...they don't have an easy run home. Sharks are in the same boat but Canberra could look good if they improve.

The next 6 weeks for Newcastle will decide how they go as they have 4 games at home, a bye in the middle and then the rabbitohs away. As bad as they are now they could pull something out of their arse and not drop any of those games.

In summary, we are f**king up against it kids...currently 7th or 8th would get you an away final against the Roosters or Dogs....I think we need all the luck we can get!

There are two games coming up against the Warriors should be able to win both of those.

There are a few MUST win games coming up

v Sharks @ Toyota
v Cowboys @ Dairy Farmers

The Cowboys have had both their byes while the Sharks had their 1st this week.

The finals will be tough to make but it will be easier then last year where Parra only missed out by 2 pts.

We don't have 3/4 of our side injured either! We were playing shit when we were at full strength as well! Bar Dykes and Lyon, have we really not been able to compensate for a loss of a player? Cayless is missed, but since he has gone, vella and Wags (when in the pack) have really stepped up. We have gained Stapelton in that group as well, and Hindy is as ever. So that's a starting pack putting in. Afasamaga and Widders are doing fine as well.

Simply put, centre has been our only downfall this year on terms of player non availability.

There are other problems afoot that are stopping us from being a top 4 club.

Last night, our injury list matched theirs.

When put in perspective yes. I couldnt imagine dropping vella for cayless or any others. Id drop peterson for grothe but iam confused otherwise.
