I thought it was disgraceful...

They were there to promote the sport and the 9s... Instead they came away from the whole thing looking like the game is full of thugs and drunks...

The guys did good though... Just took it on the chin...

Well we could have sent guys who had better track records to promote the event then. Maybe a lesson learnt for the NRL and 9s promoters going forward.

What like barba and Ennis?

f**k you are an idiot.

The point is that they were there to be interviewed about the RL nines. The interviewers are farkwits!

Obviously the guy in the center is more concerned with gossip than sports or news, that was his main focus of the interview. He looks like the Richard Reid type.

Poor Miller. His Cronulla players had to face some tough questions about things they did. They handled it well, and if it was Bulldogs players their, I think they may have sent Ennis, but more likely Reynolds and Graham. Ennis is not likely to be getting a run at the nines.

Super League had an International 9's. Was much better than 7's. Not to mention that you need a point of difference as really Union owns the 7's term, at least when you go with 9's you can create your own identity.

Amateur interview done by amateurs. At least if it happened this year I might understand it a bit but why would you spend 4 out of the 6 minutes dragging shit up from the past?

Didn't even really try to hide how ignorant they were either, 'this is what I googled this morning, Grade 1 blah blah blah."

Wow that was shocking. But we get interviews like that because we have no good league shows in NZ that could have done a better job, you don't often see Cam Smith on The Project because they have dedicated league shows with big audiences to promote things such as the 9's. RL has so much potential media wise but the networks in NZ haven't really capitalised on it to the point where they have league shows of the same standard to the ones in Aus (who imo are ten years behind the likes of ESPN). They need someone like Matthew Ridge to be New Zealand's version of Matty Johns, someone everyone knows who talks alot of smack and actually played the game.

That interview was absolutely pathetic considering they were there to promote the 9's.

A complete stitch up and both Carney and Gallen handled it really well. More power to them for keeping their cool in the company of dead shits.

Why not have Manu and Captain Mannering promote the 9's
To be honest as a league fan I do appreciate seeing guys like Gal and Toddy promoting it.

The biggest worry about the concept for me is that there will be no buy in from the top echelon of players outside of the Warriors.

It's great to see stars from other clubs commit to the competition.

I do also know that Gal has a previous relationship with the promoters Duco.... As he fought on a card... Carney was at that fight night also as his missus at the time was fighting on it so maybe the promoters had them both on speed dial...

That's not really true. There most certainly is league-dedicated programming in NZ, I think the relatively good coverage of league in NZ is a legacy of the fact that the Winfield Cup was perhaps the biggest selling point when SKY was originally introduced in the early 90s.

I'd say the whole point here was a bit of "cross-over" exposure for league away from league-dedicated shows.
