Diving.

After watching Adam Reynolds take a dive in the game this afternoon, I really think that they need to do something about it. He was hit in the chin, fair enough...then he had another go at the tackle before falling down and staying down not moving until a penalty was blown.

All of a sudden...the ref blows him a penalty for it and he is all of a sudden perfectly fine and healthy to take the shot at goal to take the two points!

F*** off and play soccer if you want to do that sort of crap!

If a player is hit in a tackle and stays down...they should be brought from the field.

If we ever do anything about it it'll simply become another grey area in the game for everyone to whinge about, in the case of genuinely injured players either risking harm or players shaking off actual knocks to play on.

I guess that's a good point. Surely something can be done though...even if it starts out as...the player who is 'injured' can't get up and take the shot at goal!

It won't be a grey area - everyone can tell when a player dives.

Bring in penalities for it and penalise someone when they do it - players will stop pretty quickly

If you act concussed you should be forced off the field to be accessed by a doctor.

The thing is though, in most cases the dive is caused by an infringement not being picked up on. I'm not normally one to bag the refs, this sort of situation might be where a captain's challenge could come in handy. Reynolds reckons he's been infringed, instead of eating dirt for 10 seconds while it's checked he tells whichever one of Souffs' 11 captains that he was wronged, they appeal. Maximum 2 wrong per half, none of this reviewing the play while a player is getting attention, and then farcically putting players on report because that's the process that has to be followed.

If you think that was bad check out the dive by Canterbury's Josh Reynolds earlier this year against Manly. Oscar worthy.

 I couldn't stop laughing about it.

You can actually pinpoint the second when he decides he can get a penalty out of this.

It happens after he tried to continue making the tackle.

It was a Goldeneye N64 style death.

It was like he was shot. He keeps tackling then closes his eyes, feigns being knocked out then miraculously manages to land on his forearms before lying lifeless on the ground. Suspension or fine this rubbish to stamp it out.

And he manages to put his arms down first so his 'semi-knocked out eyes-wide-open state' doesn't mean he hits the turf face-first...lol-worthy

Must have something to do with the last name....

...Reynolds!

In the 70s/80s there was Canterbury half back called Terry Reynolds. He was a whinging cat as well!!

This.

Diving is always going to be a part of the modern game. Taking away some of the incentive to dive will see it become a smaller part of the game. If a player goes down "unconscious" they should be forced to leave the field and be assessed before being allowed to return.

Usual anti-Souths brigade out in force again. Why wasn't there a thread when Thaiday did exactly the same thing against Melbourne last week? He was initially fine when the Storm player's elbow came into contact with his head and then went down as quickly as Reynolds did today.

Am not condoning what Reynolds did. Just saying you're all a bunch of jealous hypocrites for only calling him up for it.

I'm sick and tired of people saying players dive when they don't.

I'm in my 20s, I have never seen a rugby league player dive. This isn't soccer. Diving is NOT the same as staying down. Staying down is done to fix a refs mistake and that's fair enough.

Will never happen. All it would take is just one mistake for the NRL to have a lawsuit on its hands. Refs cannot and will not play Doctor.

That's the trainers job. People can be stunned momentarily and be fine seconds later every day of the week.
