Do we keep Tim Mannah?

Or sell him for 20c on the dollar?

Geezus what a plodder this guy has turned into. He's consistently dominated in tackles (when landing on his knees and elbows with a quick play the ball used to be a strength) , he gives away lazy penalties and f*ck me if he drops 1 more ball at the end of a tight game on a soft as f**k hitup..

Honestly, i've said it before, consistently losing has gotten the best of him, and i'm 100% positive he's not the leader to turn us around. When he debuted he was a kid who bust his gut with a smile on his face, fought in every tackle, did his fair share of defence. Now look at him. He looks as though the weight of the world is on his shoulders , slow, lethargic, soft. I think any clean out should start with players who have been here 4+ years, lost a lot and aren't getting any better.

I thought Mannah was good tonight.
Took a shitload of hitups at the start of the match. Had to work from a shit field position a lot of the time.

Mannah is bit of a light weight for me. He does get manhandled and push back a lot. Nice guy and all but doesn't know how to lead a team unfortunately.

he probably isn't on a big salary and is a decent prop. he needs the captaincy taken off him and needs to focus on getting fitter. he looks sluggish.

Id prefer we start him from the bench next year but I doubt Junior will be ready. Wicks has cemented the other spot.

He's a good 2nd or 3rd prop, but he's hardly capable of leading a pack and not a leaders arsehole.

How good was his first hit up of the game???? Went backwards 5m at a rate of knots. He is a shadow of the bloke who played origin in 2011.

Yeh that's about right.

One thing to remember is that Mannah is our only player eligible for the long serving player discount (and there's no one else near eligibility). If we move him on, we lose that $200k discount....so we would be starting with a cap $200k less than every club with at least one long serving player. So presently, let's say he's on $400k a year (whatever), he costs us $200k on the cap, which I think is fair enough value. Shouldn't be our captain in the long run, and should probably start on the bench. But we don't have a lot more choice than that in the short run....we can't bring another player in from Wenty/20s (not that there's an obvious candidate).

I know he's el capitan but I've been thinking for a while we should start him from the bench, just to try something different.

He gets dominated early in games, perhaps if we bring him on after 15 or so when the opposition are trying to catch their breaths his quick play the balls would be very useful.

I was never a fan of him becoming captain, there probably wasn't any other options at the time and he is a local kid who loves the club and has a good head on his shoulders but f**k me he has always just come off as too nice. We need someone who leads from the front on the field but also has the balls to get stuck into his merkin teammates when needed.

but to be fair I reckon 75% of kickoff returns result in a gang tackle where the ball run just meets a brick wall and goes nowhere (or backwards)

I'm onboard with the "he's not great" thing - but he's not terrible either

He was good to have when we had Fui - mannah could just do his trundling metres landing on his front for quick play the balls while fui was the wreckling ball ... and maybe paulo can be a wrecking ball too

He doesn't have quick play the balks any more. Watch his first stint last night. And his second off the bench. He got pushed back and dominated consistently.

When Paulo gets more match fit by the end of the season i can see him starting with Wicks, maybe Timmy coming off the bench against some tired forward might give him a new lease on life like Bennett did with Thaiday who also looked passed it late last year.
