Its already available.

But it don't work without the new digital remotes, which are not available unitl about May/June, according to Austar.

It says on the Foxtel Digital ads that it isn't available to Austar subscribers #-o

Well the Austar adds say that it is available now.

And so do the Austar ppl, cause I rang them up, and although she tried to chat me up, I was only concerned about Foxsports digital.

Is Optus going to get a digital service anytime soon?

They did have a digital service in trial late 2001-early 2002, but as part of the deal with Foxtel that was to be canned.

They still have the structure in place, but problem is they used MHP middleware, not Open TV middleware like Foxtel does. MHP is what the fta networks are using, hence why you can't use Nine Sports Active on Foxtel Digital.

Optus still insists on using the vastly superior MPH middleware which can allow many more applications, but Foxtel have said they won't sell any of the channels they have the exclusive distribution rights for (all the channels they own + the channels XYZ Own + TV1, Fox Sports, Hallmark, Showtime, Showtime Greats) to Optus if they do that. Why oh why Foxtel decided on the cheaper, but very much inferior Open TV platform, I'll never know, but that's the way it is.

So until Optus or Foxtel relents, it won't happen.

Austar Sports Active is not yet available to ANY AUSTAR Subscribers. The service is expected to be fully functional to digital subscribers within the next 2 weeks. Foxtel is available, but Austar Digital is not as of yet. The current launch date for Sports Active is the 6th of May but don't expect it to be that reliable.

Yeah....whn I rang Austar to inquire, they said middle of the year.

If you have rang them recently, and they are ahead of schedule, this is good news.
