Having sat in the rain at Cronulla at the weekend I can now see why Sydney crowds drop below 10,000. I wouldn't go to a game in that stadium in the rain and certainly wouldn't take my family. As an ex pom it was like going back 20years to an English ground.
I was there also,thinking i would get some shelter under the ET stand,but the friggin rain still blew into my face.
If anything needed to get through to those in power at the NRL/clubs,if people in the 21st century can watch a game under cover they will attend.The new southern stand although behind the goal posts was full ,all under cover.If all stands/seating had been under cover ,you can add at least 3-4,000 to the crowd IMO.
Hills are nice to watch cricket in summer,but in winter give me comfort.
The dopey architects who designed the SFS and Olympic stadium admitted they were not sport nuts,they were looking at appeal and practicality,bu**er the spectator comfort when it rained..
