I'm sick of sh*t relating to my club too - but all you're going on here is what you think is an appropriate level. You also need to take into account what levels of alcohol do what to certain people.

An alcohol level of 0.1 could have a smashing effect on a 20 year old female, but do nothing to a big burly footy forward. They've opted to strike a balance whilst not telling them "no drink". While I would've preferred that stance, unfortunately they didn't take it. But FMD, you're overreacting.

 over reacting by suggesting its a farce that a player could potentially drive to a recovery session, blow a smidgion under TWICE his legal limit and there are no rammifications by the club in regards to this plays stupid and wreckless actions... we are no over-reacting, your club as per usual is under-reacting

OK then skip

I doubt that would be a problem for them:lol:

one would assume Reni and SBW would play scissor, paper, rock to decide who gets the esteemed job of driving pissed

So you're now assuming if a player has a binge the night before they're going to drive to their recovery session?

Timmah, a acceptable level is 0.05. It works for ever single other Australian with full-time jobs! In the end playing footy os their job. Its poor on the Dogs behalf.

Well done, continue to make jokes and make light of something serious like that, which only serves to continue to bring our game into disrepute.

I already know you're response will be "your club does enough of that"... so why make it worse by thinking it's funny?

Come on even you know the Dogs aren't the smartest bunch alive! So, whilst you would hope they wouldn't drive don't bet your house on it!

i imagine its hard for you to get a giggle out of it, each jibe is a constant reminder of the sh*te your club drags this great code through... but yes i will continue to make jokes, in the words of my old man "at times like this, its all you can do"

I wonder if the Bulldogs would really sack any of their players? I mean if SBW came in a blew 0.11, I don't think he would be sacked. In fact I am willing to bet that if he was blind rolling drunk, he would be sent home and told to sleep it off and see you the next training session.

I don't think that any Bulldogs player was ever sacked in the last 10 years due to disciplinary reasons and I thought they got tough on the players after Coffs.

Fair cop. I just think you might've jumped the gun in terms of this reading thing. While any reading of alcohol is silly on the players behalf, and unlikely to happen anyway IMO, the measure is there. Would you rather they didn't breath test and players just turn up drunk?

Would anyone want a drunk player tackling them in drills at training? Their judgement would be off and could really injure you or themselves.
Nobody else is allowed to turn up to work drunk so why should sportspeople?
Also, as someone mentioned before, if a player was found to be over 0.05% blood alcohol, and they drove to training, would the club call the cops? They should..imagine the sh*t the club would be in if a drunk player killed someone with their car?

The first post said...

"if you turn up to a recovery session with an alcohol reading of 0.10 or higher you will be dropped from 1st grade"

I'm assuming the people who criticse this stance believe that this type of behaviour should not warrant being dropped. Because I certainly don't see -- at this stage -- anywhere that says this is the minimum b.a.l. for a player to be dropped from first grade, nor do I see anything that says how long such a suspension from first grade will last.

That's a pretty weak-minded stance to take. Musn't be too much discipline going on at these other clubs. I would of thought someone blowing 0.1 or over during a training session would warrant at least a game suspension. What can you do?

To the contrary...

It's tough to take such jibes seriously when they're coming from the supporter of a club with the relevance of a Commodore 64.

Coffs was a club event, it happened as part of a trip as a club.

These incidents are individual ones involving the players on their own time. The club has taken action now in both events of fining the players heavily, the rest is for the law to deal with.

Question: have you heard of an NRL player in the last 10 years sacked for drink driving?
