Dogs Gone.....

All i know is its going to be a huge bunfight for those top 8 spots. There are teams that have an edge at the moment, but there are several quality teams, and several resurgent teams, who are lying at the bottom or just outside the 8. Lets have a look at the talent:

Bottom 4 of the top 8:

5. Storm (12 pts)
6. Cowboys (12 pts)
7. Eels (12 pts)
8. Roosters (10 pts)

The next 5 teams are the Dragons, Tigers (both on 10 pts), Warriors, Panthers and Bulldogs.

Those are 5 quality sides who are more than capable of footing it with anyone in the 8, they simply haven't hit their straps yet. Dragons are starting to get on a roll, Tigers are going ok, the Panthers and Warriors aren't too far off....and we all know how lethal the Dogs can and will be with a fit side.

Some other points to consider:

-Cowboys, Broncos and Roosters still have 2 byes up their sleeve.
- At least one team currently in the thick of the 8 may well slip (my pick is the Raiders)

In my opinion, based on form and other factors, the sides who have the most to fear in the 8 at the moment are the Storm, Eels, Raiders and Roosters. In fact i'll extend that and say that the only sides with a clean grip on a top 8 slot are the Broncos, Manly, Cronulla and the Cowboys.

Sadly looking at the table as it stands now i think my team (the Warriors) will have a really tough time securing a top 8 spot. I suspect that at the end of the regular season, many other fans of quality sides who see a top 8 spot as their right, will similarly be disappointed.

If the Dogs miss the finals I will look back on the following three games as WASTED opportunities

Round 3 against Tigers- lost by 1 point, lead by 16 or 18 at one stage. Threw the game away then almost had it back at 36-all, then poor Asotasi knocked on in our own 30 metres with less than 1 minute on the clock and Prince buried us.

Round 6 against Roosters- Lead the game, Morley was sent off for last 30-odd minutes. Capitulated to a rampaging 12 men that should have been put away

Round 10 against Eagles- Eagles didn't show up to attack in 2nd half. Dogs couldn't level a strong enough attack to breach their line despite ridiculous possession of the ball

I know the Dogs have squandered at least one more significant lead this year but I don't recall to whom. Not all of the Dogs woes have been because of injury is what I'm getting at, so although it may cripple their season, they need to have taken the chances they had when the had them

For mine I think we'll make the 8 just, and if fully fit will challenge strongly for the Premiership (IF fully fit).

Some of you Shark supporters are dumber than I thought.

The Sharks have been established for almost 40 years and have NO PREMIERSHIP TITLES yet!

The Sharks are more like the NRL version of the Tottenham Hotspurs who they also have not won a premier eague title

And as for you Bulldogs fans, your team are no chance of making the 8! end of story!

A team that is'nt sitting stone cold at the bottom of the table:p

Until the sharks win won they have zero credibility, and bagging any team thats ever held the cup is ludicrous.

I am a big boy and can take a spoon which I dont think will be ours just yet. But not winning a title after nearly 3 decades I'd cry myself to sleep.

You'd want to hope Kimmorley stays fit sharky, cause we all know what happens to the sharkies when brett isnt there.

Same thing that happens to a lot of sides when they lose their playmaker, thats football though isn't it.

As for the credibility issue, thats a bit rich isn't it, I take it the cowboys, warriors also have no credibility. How about the Rabbitohs, they have won a sh*tload of premierships, do you think their supporters are a happy bunch of campers.

Do you see any cowboys or warriors fans laying the boots into last years premiers?

I certainly dont.

And yeah it does unfortunately but the sharks get hit harder then most by kimmorleys absence and dont throw joey at me, we couldnt even win when he was on the paddock! :)

If u can find a post where I am laying into the bulldogs i sure would like to see it;-) . Mighty Sharks was'nt laying into them either u goose he was just trying to say they will be doing it tough for the remainder of the season.

So does that mean we are laying boots in them:rolleyes:

Besides I have 2 mates in the Bulldogs team why would I put sh** on them?

I wasn't laying in the boot just think with injurys they wont make the eight. If they had there top side in all year they would have been in the top four

You have, I have, WE all have mates that support other teams it would'nt be normal if we did'nt. But your mates are fans im saying my mates play for the actual team you are accusing us(sharks fans) of putting the boot in.

knights and rabbits seasons are a WRITE off for 2005. Canterbury still have a big chance. I dont think those teams will cause any problems.

Where was that "guarenteed" win tonight Charlie? :D

Still Possible. If they drop the Raiders match at home you might as well shut the gate...

I dont think season 2005 is lost yet. It is a MUST win game against the raiders in rnd 15 at the showground. We must string a few wins together & atleast win 7 from our last 12, which will put us on 27 points which may be enough to sneak into the finals.
