Don't let Gardner get smashed.

Seriously other teams are on to the money ball to Gardner now.

As soon as they see him loom up in a play they know he's the receiver and last night he nearly got decapitated twice!

When Stapleton was our fullback he also got smashed with this play when it was obvious he was the receiver and I think it sent his confidence back a heap.

Brisbane had so much respect for Gardner last night they kicked either really deep into space with a great chase, ran the ball on the last and waited for him to move up and kicked over his head or more often than not Lockyer kicked the ball into touch.

The one time Gardner made a dangerous kick return was when Thaiday had a brain explosion and kicked short and straight at Gardner.

But anyway we need another player to run as a decoy or receiver when Gardner looms up otherwise he'll be on a stretcher sooner rather than later!

he has explosive pace whch draws attetion unfortunately and he is still very green as a player - which is great for us as he will only improve ten-fold

as for his looming around the ruck, he will only get better positionally over time - watch slater in back play, he knows how to remain out of sight until he needs to make his run

i hope we have him stiched up for some time

We have a number of juniors and fringe players. CT, Gards, Kelly, Bakuya, Vave etc that need to be stitched up and committed, keep em here and paint them Blue black n white.
We can't afford the Lockyers, JT's etc...that's a dream.

We need to hold em n play em.

Geez hes going to be a good half back. Shame Melbourne had Cronk & we never saw Slater have a crack at the halves.

Agree with the above

I am not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, but I noticed on Friday night that he got up gingerly from a tackle early in the second half. It looked like he injured (or re-injured) his ankle/leg. He favoured that leg for the rest of the match and wasn't his usual explosive self. Hopefully the bye will enable him to rest up and recover from this. Heaven knows we need him!
