As teams are eliminated from the early rounds of the finals, there will be a buy back scheme.

There will be plenty of opportunity to secure seats in the coming weeks if you keep your ear to the ground.

If It's a Souffs Vs Roosters GF, Scalpers dream... Roosters fans will pay massive overs for tickets, whilst Souffs fans will have to watch at the Govt. supplied flat screens at centrelink...

If that's the case how would 'souffs' making the finals be a scalpers dream? Wouldn't they get more money out of say Manly? That is assuming your comment stems from socio-economic stereotypes as suggested above.

Nick Politis has secured many of the best seats for his corporate buddies, several members of NZ government, and several members of the diplomatic corps (including the NZ, US, UK, French, Greek and Israeli ambassadors), who want to see SBW, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Jared Whaerea-Hargreves, Boyd Cordner, and Michael Jennings in the Big Event. They are box seats.

was struggling to sell out a couple years ago.

only one Grand Final has failed to sellout at Homebush

2000 Roosters V Broncos
94,219 in a venue that held 110,000
not all tickets to the public were sold.
Every other GF since 1999 at the venue has exhausted tickets for sale

The only reason the capacity of the venue hasn't been reached is stadium members not attending
the NRL Grand Final is one of our nations premium sporting events & is the biggest single sporting event in Sydney by such a long way it aint funny,
the fact ticket prices have near doubled & hardly anyone has blinked proves it.

it took months to sellout the origins in Sydney
it took days to sellout the grand final .. & no one even knows who'll be in it.:sarcasm:

Which proves that true Rugby League fans value the NRL Grand Final much more than a three game interstate series.

The advantage of the NRL GF becoming almost "unattainable" again, like the old SFS days, the GF qualifiers become massive again. People will attend them in droves because they can

How is that not a bad thing? We should want the stadium filled with die hard league fans, not just rich people who can afford the big events.

Are you suggesting that some TV viewers enjoy the game less if the crowd at the ground is less animated?

I assume the members only allocation will still be available in the week of the GF? Usually 15k tix for members of the clubs in the GF.

If so, I hope these are reasonable. Cost me $60 in 2010 which was great value.

yes I would, the atmoshere created at a sporting event leads to the enjoyment of watching said event. Try watching your avg NRL game then watching a Liverpool or Man Utd home game. Far inferior product on the field but the atmosphere tells you you are watching something special. (note: Having been to plenty of NRL games with great atmospheres it is as much the fault of TV microphones not picking up the atmosphere as subdued NRL fans!)

Or maybe you are a tennis or golf fan who enjoys the silence of Wimbledon or St Andrews?

It was always going to sell out. Every club has their supporters that will pay anything for certain games. The problem will be the kids and families wont go. Replaced with Corporates that aren't nessarily RL fans

It will be a masterstroke financially for the NRL if they sell out the grand final at these high prices.

Hope they use all the profits to drop the prices for the regular season games next year.

Uh, how was I suggesting that?

I was saying that several thousand league fans would enjoy the game less because they can't afford tickets and have to stay home.

We should want the NRL Grand Final watched by 80,000 die hard league fans. Not 20,000 die hards and 60,000 rich people only there because it's a big event. For example if it was a Souths v Dogs final, we should have the 30,000 biggest Souths fans and the 30,000 biggest Bulldogs fans + ANZ members.

And also yes, the game would be less entertaining if we had 80,000 people in the stands not going for anyone, compared to 80,000 die hard league fans.
