Doueihi V Reynolds

I agree, R20. Reyno was fine. The grass is always greener. I am yet to see Doueihi do anything that Reyno couldn’t do. Doueihi is only 19 and has years to continue to improve and I absolutely love his size for a half. If Reyno is injury free, unless he drops off or Doueihi takes a leap, he is our best halfback.

You mean except play two consecutive games?

Hey I’m with you. I got argued against during the week for suggesting that AR should prove his fitness in the Bears this week before sitting Doueihi down. But what do I know.
your right, i read some posts that reynolds was rusty , if your not ready dont play! His passing game was terrible , always change a losing game never change a winning game

It’s not the numbers as much as why he was left on the bench so long. Could have been a different outcome.
2 games starting, 2 wins for Doueihi. That’s a fact.

3 games starting, 2 wins. He started in the loss to Penrith.

I don't believe AD has done enough to claim a right to the 7 but if AR isn't careful, he could lose his grip on it.

Impressive win considering Doueihi wasn’t even used. So is it realistic that he’s the foil for Reynolds if he’s to get injured again? Reynolds played well and looked better but if he finds form where does Douehi fit in? Do we keep him benched?

Is Doueihi eligible to play for Norths this week?
Great question, the poor kid needs some minutes. His game fitness will drop if he keeps averaging 5 mins a game any longer.

AR took it up a notch. He’s turning me from a doubter to a believer as he gets fitter. I really think this AR/Doueihi thing is great example how nearly every player has competition for their position every week. Many like AR, Sutto, The Twins, Tatola, Clarkie, Angus, the wingers just to name a few are really lifting with every game. It’s exciting.

I don't know how it works exactly but Luciano Leilua played ressies after limited minutes in a first grade fixture.

With the reduced interchange and HIA rules, an unused sub is something that has popped up recently and could eventually become the norm, especially for games on a Thursday or Friday where the unused player could still be added to reserve grade on the Saturday or Sunday.

AR rediscovering form will coincide with the newfound team efforts in the little things like our kick chase. It got slack in recent seasons but at the height of AR's form to date, he was dribbling the ball in to the in goal knowing that his kick chase would trap the opposition back.

Gone are the days where players often played reserve grade, had a shower, a smoke, put on a new jersey and ran on with first grade if they were called up.

I’m sure he should be able to play on the weekend. If they’re in Sydney anywhere I might even drop in.

I can remember doing exactly that (minus the smoke because I'm obviously an atheltic specimen) great times.

Particularly when a side is playing at home, we may see a return to that for whoever is named in 14.

I believe reynolds will get better from here on hopefully he stays uninjured which has been his major problem after 2014 we have a better squad today than in 2015/16/17 but like i have quoted on another post josh papalli would be a welcoming hand to help out our forward pack led by sam burgess and i believe papalli would be a good fit at souths i was told souths offered him 800-850k

i will say one thing about reynolds when reynolds is on / uninjured i believe he is irreplaceable doueihi is young and i like him but at 19 he has far to go to fill adam reynolds shoes when adam is fit, i like doueihi but what position in our team he ends up playing is any ones guess in the future.Doueihi did play in the centres for lebanon and he did play well but if i may add at 19 yrs of age dylan walker was a far better prospect than doueihi was at the same age. i have always hoped for dylan walkers return to souths if he can shake his demons and i would also love james roberts aka jimmy the jet to return home too he looks unhappy at the broncos no harm in dreaming

Am surprised to read so much disdain for Reynolds on here! Let's not forget, he is a premiership winning halfback, who has played state of origin, who bleeds for the Rabbitohs. In my books that just about makes him our halfback by default for the rest of his career.

But then you add in his outstanding long and short kicking game (think repeat sets compared to Douehi's grubber for himself that came up empty), defense and passing game (which you don't lose overnight!) and its a no brainer for me.

Loyalty goes both ways - we lament the departure of Angus, who isn't even a junior, but then we push guys like Clark out the door, and people on here want AR to follow. These guys are the heart and soul of the club. AR should be up there with Tugga in terms of halfbacks that became modern day club legends. I want to see him play 200+ games for the club!!

The problem is he won’t make that many games as his body isn’t up to it.
That doesn’t make him a bad person he just physically doesn’t seem to be able to do it. We can’t have a player so injury prone in such a key position.

You’re right AR hasn’t lost his game overnight, he’s lost it over 3 years. Now I’m really hoping if he strings some games together that his 2014 form returns. But you can’t keep loyal to an out of form, injury prone, player because he played in a GF 4 years ago. You’re setting the club up for disaster.

I really, really, really, hope he stays fit, thrives under the freedom of Seibold, and returns to the form we know he can play, and plays out his years here. Now he really impressed this week, and I almost flashed back to 2012 myself. But he has serious competition for his jersey now and not just from Douehi, and loyalty can only last so long.

Oh boy what a serve! But if we had lost and were coming near last the tune would change. All your sentiments are great in a fantasy world, we are in reality here for the last 3 years AR game has deteriorated badly, his kicks in general play have deteriorated his running game disappeared and he has been off the feild more than on. He hasnt been controlling the game like eg maloney , who has killed opositions at every club, i was watching the 2014 grand final and for some stupid reason compared ARs arse, yes thats what i said Arse to todays AR its double in size, he isnt fit he is resting on past performances, im sorry to say. Your good games can only carry you so many seasons before you say enough is enough and maybe a change of club would do him the world of good. Unfortunately some players become complacent and thats whats happened to AR we all expect, no demand winning! The best that seibs has done is put him on notice, hopefully this will move him to perform.
J clark im sorry to see go but good as he has been he isnt great, i would have loved him to have played out his carreer but at the cost of younger players?
Unfortunately in this great game this happens.
