However, it seems so strange that we don't seem to encourage or develop a lot of GK in the club and haven't done so for a long time.

Adam has a big body and should develop into a good lock. If I were him I'd be watching Yeo's playbook and copy his style of play. Needs to be better and more aggressive in defense though.

They got Lobb but he can't break out of reserve grade.
Jared Haywood isn't a goal kicker. I don't think he's even kicked a field goal. As you say Tm, we don't seem to be developing goal kickers.
You would think that a ½ would have kicked at least 1 field goal by now

GK is not easy. It requires years of practice and therefore is a specialist position.
As you say, they need to be developed.

I don't really care. I'm sure we'll stuff it up.
I want the Hunt debacle sorted out first. We need a bookend asap. Our fwd rotation has to have an impact forward.
The lack thereof is one of the reasons our halves have struggled over the years because we don't have a big unit drawing the edges in.
In the red zone, we just run laterally or change direction for 5 tackles. When we do have the right attacking shape the D has too much cover.
Those tries to Skelton is what we need and it was on the back of direct running game fron Latu but our halves job is made harder for the reasons I've mentioned.

Makasini was a goal kicker in sg ball.Dont know how good he is but don’t think I’d want to lumber him with the responsibility so early in his career albeit if he’s good enough to play NRL next season then im
sure the kid can be our GK

I can see signs of a good future with Latu Fainu straightening the attack.
He's very talented and has only played a handful of games.
He'll get better and so should Luai.
If only we can build on this and keep our best players for next year.
We've already got a decent new forward coming in KPP so that's a boost.
I refuse to believe that between now and next year that we won't sign another good player....it will happen.
It's all about retaining our best players and a top up of good player/s.
Even if Benji stays on, he should be better with a full year of coaching NRL under his belt.

Here is the thing with AD. He has an amazing ability to show some form and then have that form completely disappear.

He isn't good enough to play in the halves for us. He is too slow for the centres. He has done well playing at lock but it's like one game or so.

I hope he stays but we shouldn't be offering him good dollars.

No one is basing it on 2 games, he's played over 100 games and in many positions, he ain't a rookie, so his versatility factor is a premium.
TBH, 3 ball playing guys on the team, sounds pretty good.
But more importantly, we cannot go into a season without a recognised GK, that is suicide.
Api can kick, but what happens when he's not on the field?
As for Moses, agree it was a crazy decision by him, but if he signs, then I think he's professional enough to just play the game, and not get into the theatrics like Galvin did.
If we were lucky to win those two games, we would have lost them, if he wasn't playing.
Give him a decent offer (a hundred grand or so, is chickweed in the NRL these days), if he goes well there isn't much we can do, but go to market and find a GK urgently.

Despite him playing well this season and massively exceeding my expectations I'd only keep him if we get him for a decent contract. The guy continually overrates his ability.

I think AD will end up with $500.. He’s not just a goal kicker..he’s: a more than effective back up to the halves (his strength is he doesn’t panic ..Leo’s never panic. Go check, and he’s got the tools) ….and back up to every back line position if needed which we will… and 13 another string to his bow with the advantage again of his ball playing .. if Luai says he was good coz he straightened the play up then 13 is definately another string to his bow.. Benji said he tackled ok so that’s good enough for me. If his body matched his footy brain he’d be in the very top tier. We can settle for a very very handy player. We arnt too good for that. $450- 500 or he will be gone
