Your general thoughts on the movie.

ME

1) As a movie i thought it was great, story line was good and pretty simple to follow.
2) Special Effects i thought were pretty good, trying to keep things close to the show (dragon balls, kamehameha, dragon etc) and they did a pretty good job of making them lifelike.
3) Well, so many things to point out that it is crazy. But differences are obvious: Goku turning Ozaru without a tail, etc.

My general thoughts are this it was a enjoyable movie and without comparing to heavily with the Tv show, shows an extremely brief and simple version of the Dragonball Series and using Real people they did an adequate job of it. id give it about 3.5/5

I havent seen it yet, but am seeing it tomorrow. Tbh, before even seeing it I am livid at the bolded point. I have heard about all the 'tweaks' to the shows origins and is p*sses me off no end. Things that are simply unnecessary. Goku turning ozaru without a tail is annoying but not too bad because without having watched/read the originals people wouldnt know whats going on regardless of him having a tail or not when transforming. Is it true that according to the film the dragonballs where made by 7 wisemen (presumably 1 for each ball)? Why change that? The audience wont know the difference, and Im guessing it didnt impact on the story? Why change it from 1 to 7? Other sh*t like goku going to school, only meeting roshi after realising he needed to be ready for a fight, meeting him as a teenager rather than a kid, no krillin. F*ck, I feel like its going to be hard for me to enjoy this tomorrow, I'll be nippicking too much. OH, and is it Picolo or King Picolo in the film? Let me guess....

1) As a movie - Hated it, fair enough that its an adaptation but the storyline is so mangled that it hurts me. I guess if i never watched the cartoon i actually would have enjoyed the movie more.
2) Comments on the Special Effects - This was significant reason as to why i watched the movie, to see how they would transfer the moves to real life. Did a good job i thought, although there weren't enough fight scenes for me.
3) Compared with The Anime Series - Won't even go there

I hated the movie, but that's just me. I've read reviews where some people said they hated it, while some say they enjoyed it, so i guess its open to interpretation.

Saw it today. I have to say my absolute rock-bottom expectations actually allowed me to somewhat enjoy it. I didnt hate it, but I didnt love it. It was ok. Special effects were good, and, like Ridders mentioned, not nearly enough fight scenes. I would like to see how they went in a sequel without the burden of 'creating' the hero, establishing the storyline so heavily ect. with a greater focus on action.

I'm with Ridders in the pain I felt at the mangling. Another one of those annoying, unnecessary changes was Roshi not being bald. Honestly. And I could list probably 50 or more things like that that annoyed me, but credit where its due. When goku was doing his hair it didnt stay done up and the ending was somewhat similar to how it went down in the series which was surprising.

But I did like Fat as roshi. Didnt mind Yamcha's portrayal either. Where did I recognise Bulma from? I felt like I knew her from somewhere. She brought a good energy to it I though. Chatwin needs to put on some muscle, I'm not sold on him but I'd like to see him in a second portrayal before drawing a red line through his name.

Guess we will have to see how it fares box-office wise. I'm under the impression that a sequel will be made if its profitable, regardless of a lack of critical acclaime or fan acceptance.

I must have watched the wrong movie. It was by far the worst I've ever seen, and I liked the anime. It felt like an extended trailer, with no character development and random things happening for no reason.

I didn't really compare it to the anime either, I watched it for what it was while knowing it had the connection to Dragonball.

no, in the movie it was the 7 men who made the giant cup which piccolo was trapped in for 3000 years. they used another 7 men to try and create a second cup, they epic phailed.

That was the most mind-boggling thing. They built that whole containment thing up, as if it was going to be significant, and then it just died.
