Can you imbeciles name the last true (who was actually half decent) St George junior that was born in the area? Illawarra are producing all the true local juniors, St George area is dead

So is the Sydney Roosters area(dead), they've been going O.K for thirty years.

Ai, its why I want to make sure Nick gets a fair go (I felt he missed 4-5 first grade games he should have been selected for this year - this was pre injury), so rare to have a home grown kid.. the rest of the dragons sides (bar the odd exception) are pulled from western sydney and qld and so forth.

But yes the depth of Steeler talent is outrageous... thats where basically all our homegrowns r (and will) come from, I know not many have fully made it in recent times (yet), but I reckon Couchies, Egan and Stewart all will.. and there are a few more like the Meafous and Ollie and co a few years off.. there are lots lots more, but I'm not 'certain' about them yet.. need more time to filter up.... not all of them are sure things as teenagers... and its very competitive just to make the steelers squads.

What will be interesting however is whether being a merged club will continue to be an advantage for us.. i.e. can Ando and the team continue to stack the Dragons squads with imports, plus still find the odd player to fill any gaps in the steelers squads.. its a big job to manage it all.. every year you need new players coming into the funnel. We cant have the dragons squads struggling like this season.. its no way to attract quality prospects.

I think we'll get to a stage where a few southcoast/gong lads will play for St. George. Honestly, that area will be a gold mine.

With the CoE coming in next season you would hope so. Saints should also become a more attractive place to attract some talent from other NRL clubs. In a couple of years time the Saints will have a newly renovated leagues club on the Princess Hwy generating plenty more revenue and a top class CoE bringing in good talent as well as looking after their junior base.

They just need to have the NRL lend some assistance and get them more prime time games for more major sponsors to jump on not have them play mostly Sat afternoon games or other timeslots which makes them the least watched.

I'd like to see more cross-pollination, especially when there are 2 strong options in the 1 position.. its just that they are kids living at home and possibly still going to school.. so its not always going to work.. but surely we will have some sort of setup in place to have the option there. its probably only ~4mths of the year.. maybe a bit more... but they are 9 round seasons in U17 and U19's.
