Great player and servant of the club. I like this appointment. If you can't look after your own who can you. There is no guarantee an outsider will do better in the roll. Outside of the rorters and Melbourne (cheats) no other club is any better or worse than ours.so where are these people who are masters of the universe. So stop all the bitching. Get on board. Go dragons!
Yes, Timmo was a great, honest, hardworking player for us. I hold him in high regard.
No one is disputing that. Of course, when the opportunity arrives, there is nothing better than looking after your own but the main point of contention here is not so much about this appointment, its about the club as a whole.
Having the odd 'old boy' placed here or there is not an issue, having unskilled old boys taking up every conceivable position at the club is another thing. Situations become less transparent.
The biggest problem is that the club will continue to fall behind in the modern business world because the 'old boys' will make decisions not always in the best interest of the club, but themselves.
Its already happened.
The sale of the club went to a lower bidder!
Why?
Because the old boys in their ivy tower didn't want to risk losing their cosy jobs in a reshuffle.
That shouldn't happen. Bad business decision.
McGregor getting a contract extension for winning only 50% of games and one finals appearance.
Bad bussiness decision ............... wouldn't happen in the real world.
How did it happen here?........................... Old boys looking after, old boys.
Why do we question it?
Because we want a level playing field to give us the best opportunity to succeed.
Because we love the club, just not those pocketing a livelihood at our expense.
