Hi all, I am looking back to see we had any alpha props and forwards since 2005. I see we are lacking in this mean machine space since 2012 after Bennett left. We are missing this sorely. We had players like:
Lance Thompson
Jason Ryles
Corey Payne
Ben Creagh
Michael Weymen
Tariq Sims
Jeremy Smith
Justin Poore
Beau Scott
Jarrod Staffy
Neville Costigan
Trent Merrin
Joel Thompson

Currently we have Jack De Belin as sole forward lead. So, since 2012 we are lacking opportunities in this space. We kept ditching our juniors to other clubs, nor skill them up right. We have been a dads army since Price started with us with some nonsense players who kept watching reruns of The Diary of the Wimpy Kid movie series.

Right now we are now breeding alpha forwards in Egan, Stewart, Tonga, Latu etc. Let hope they are all playing together consistently this year so we can match the winning 2010 team with most of the forwards were alpha!

Couchman twins debut signalled a turn of getting back to our juniors talent playing in our NRL squad, so thanks to Flanno to make this happen, and this year with the others.

The best performance I have seen a forward of the Saints play was Tariq Sims against the Broncos. Saints were tipped to get smashed that game 13+. Tariq however destroyed them. Then Hook later came back and ruined him. He has been the best for me. Same with Jeremy Smith, Costigan and Weyman.

The days prior saints had Barnhill, Gourley and Mackay. My favourite back 3 in my time following Saints.

Since 2005?

Just give me the whole 2010 pack. Got us going forward and never took a step back in defence. Did the jersey proud. Won a comp. No other forwards either side of that Bennet era compare. None.

Unfortunately Willie Mason’s famous sledge - “where are your front rowers?” has summed up our situation for the best part of a decade. It’s 2025 and still true.

I remember this well, and its funny but sad at the same time. His sledging are hilarious. He was at the Knights before Frizell moved onto with them.

The 2005 team wasn't that bad but it was Tigers year that was. Indeed 2010 team were the best.

Michael Weyman for mine. Horse. Signed by Bennett for the ‘09 season to little fanfare but went on to become our pack leader and enforcer. Even losing his side kick Poore at the end of ‘09, he only stepped it up another gear and helped lead us to our long awaited prem the next season. No nonsense but the opposition knew not to f*ck with him as he could throw hands if required.

Ben Creagh. Helped us win the GF and post-Bennett captained the club and remained a Dragon his whole career.
Creagh was a good role player in our premiership win.

But as a captain and forward leader? That was the weakest pack I’ve ever seen. I’ll never forget Mason Mic’d up giving it to us while packing a scrum.
