Dragons close in on Nene MacDonald

St George Illawarra look set to finally end their chase for a prized scalp with Gold Coast speedster Nene Macdonald on the verge of joining the Dragons.

The Dragons have missed out on a host of big name players including Corey Norman, Jarryd Hayne and Luke Keary but look to have landed Macdonald on a three year deal.

The Titans are resigned to losing the former Australian schoolboy representative.

He's a great player so i'd be chuffed with this but like... Why?
We're stocked up on centres and wingers. Milne, Aitken, Dugan, Nightingale, Dufty, Fai Fai Loa, Mann... And we have Izaac Thompson coming through. Seems a bit of a waste when we could be spending the money on a halfback.

If confirmed this is good for the Dragons.

However, he still needs to get fitter and by that I mean aerobic fitness (several times today he was blowing like old steam train) and needs to tighten up his defense as he gets caught on the outside quite often.

Other than that he's got good pace, and good under the high ball in defense and attack.

Mann definitely to 5/8 and Widdop to 7.
