The St George Illawarra Dragons have announced that Australia Schoolboy representative Reece Robson has agreed to terms on a further two seasons, until at least the end of 2019.

The National Youth Competition hooker, who scored five tries from his 21 appearances last season, had earlier this year signed a one-year contract until the end of 2017 but has since chosen to extend for a further two years.

The former St George Dragons SG Ball team graduate was also part of both the 2016 Australian Schoolboy squad as well as the NSW U18 State of Origin team.

Robson is presently one of five members from the NYC squad who have been invited to train with the first-grade squad this pre-season.

“I am really happy to have been able to further extend my contract here with the Dragons and it was an easy decision to make,” said Robson.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to have been invited to train alongside the first-grade squad this pre-season and it’s been an eye-opener to see everything that is required to become an NRL player.

“I love the Club and am looking forward now to seeing what lies ahead for me next season as I continue my development and learning here with the Dragons.”

Dragons Director of Rugby League Pathways Ian Millward has expressed his pleasure in having the St George Dragons SG Ball graduate further extend his stay at the Club.

“Reece has had an outstanding season this year which has been reflected in the many representative teams he has been involved in,” said Millward.

“He was highly sought after given his talent in the hooking role but he was passionate to remain here and we are happy that he has chosen to continue his development as a Dragon.

“We have a vision of Reece being a first-grade hooker for us in the future and look forward to his continued development and progression here for at least the next three seasons.”

Very good player. Watched quite a bit of NYC squad this year (they were great to watch) and provided the team another dimension in attack and defence. Tough bugger as well who often took the line on. Very good news.

Great news. Like most of our promising juniors over the years I look forward to seeing him get minimal opportunity to play first grade, being roadblocked by the likes of Marketo and Havili.

Good news, it looks like Robson was waiting to see if we were able to offer a pathway before signing on for a longer term. With no Rein and Mcinnes signed for two years gives him every opportunity to make that spot his own if he is good enough in the future.

I must say that Millward gets a 9 out of 10 for retention and a 7 out of 10 for recruitment. Mc Gregor will have no excuses
as he has a strong roster with only three
lemons Lafai, Marketo and Matthews.
