True, but I believe they get some income from the Leagues club, which will be pokies based. The rest of the revenue presumably comes from ticket sales, membership fees, merchandising, investment returns, and sponsorship.

Incidentally, when you take into account our profit margin, we're actually doing worse than quite a few of the teams below us on the list.
Leagues club used to give the football club a grant, not sure how much and if they still do.. NRL give the clubs every season something like $15-17m which covers the cost of the salary cap, also the lower grade caps as well and coaches and staff, the leftover is kept by the clubs.

I wasn't sure either, so I looked up the St George Leagues Club Annual Reports. In 2017, they gave over $3M to "Football clubs and community development and support expenditure". In 2020 it was $1.2M. In 2024 it was $500k. I suspect very little (if any) of the $500k went to the Dragons, and it was probably all spent on local footy teams and comps in the St George area.

What I don't get is if each club gets $15-17m from the NRL, that pretty much covers all the Dragons revenue shown in the list. If so, clubs like Souths and Parra are doing way better than us.

The St George side of the partnership has plenty of funds ,the League’s Club is trading very well.
But none of the trading profits go to the Football club, there is actually no point in having the Leagues club !sell the lot to private equity to a rich fan who has some football and business nouse unless that happens the dragons will continue to finish 12-17th and eventually will fold.

Don't let anyone tell you the Dragons don't have plenty of funds. It is the structure of our board is the problem. We need to acquire WIN/Gordon's shares and then have WIN as a major sponsor with stadium naming rights.
Great idea Possm. This would help with TPA's as well.

Now is the time for Tim Watsford to come out and let us know what is being planned for the Club with players signings and what the future holds for the Dragons.

There seems to be a code of silence at the moment. Is it because they just have nothing to report and there is jack shit happening with new recruits?

Hopefully the silence is because they are plotting which juniors will be retained and how much they will need to be paid over the next 2 or 3 years and once those contracts are all sorted they will go hard to fill the gaps with quality recruits. But I've been hoping for this for a while.

One thing I did like was Watsford handled the media brief on JDB personally, and made it clear it was a club decision to release him. Whether we agree with the decision or not at least it's a strong decision.

I do like the part about - The Dragons are a sleeping giant about to be awakened !

With all due respect to the man there is no doubt that the Big Red V has been in hibernation since our beloved Mary’s years ( 2018 when they were last in the semis ) .

There will need to be a huge change to the thinking of our decision makers - the board and a far better
recruitment strategy to finally awaken our fire - breathing Dragons from their 15 year slumber.

The task his faces will be enormous , however I do wish the man the very best in his future endeavours . Perhaps he will indeed be the messiah that we have been waiting for to turn the club’s fortunes around for the better .
our beloved mary years? FMD what were you watching? Mary destroyed the joint

There is a on line forum coming up shortly where some of the powers to be are going to address some issues the members have. Unfortunately its invite only but if you know someone that's got a start be a good place to raise your concerns

If there's been one positive to come out of the last month, it's that at least all the fans of the club are finally in complete unison; that is we all agree that the club is an utter joke from top to bottom. I hear no optimists anymore. They can't even gather their usual excuses. There's no frickin' plan.

Looks like Flanagan is set to be the scape goat again. For all he is doing wrong - and he is not innocent - he is not the root of our problem. Whether he survives the brutal storm coming, I don't really care at this point.

The media need to turn some more attention on Haran and the other. Most of us have been saying it for years, but now there's truly nowhere to hide; ANOTHER crap season, more failed players, more juniors escape.

Who I am kidding? We will probably announce Luke Garner's signature by week's end and the club will make out he is a marquee signing we had to battle to get.
