I think they have the same problem as Melbourne as in they can beat anyteam on there day, and anyteam comprehensivly, but they tend to lose the closer games especially to the teams above them on the ladder.

Well i expected to get beaten comprehensively last night without the guys that are out.

if they got close and lost, shit its been a whole lot better than getting whipped.

Is it not.

???

For the record, we won a tight one in Auckland in round 2, witha stack of players out again.

Since then we have either rolled teams by 20 + or got rolled by the same amount.

We have not been able to get a good contingent of first graders on the park.

Take out, Freddy, Morley, Cayless, Topou, Wing, Cross, Cusack..

Lets see how well they do.

Same positions as ours, same sort of class. Well Cross for Gasnier.. LOL

Stgillaman, you forget we gave the bulldogs a run with even more stars out last year.

yes I remember, But we have a history of winning when the chips are down. and they are down.

look out. Your just firing is up.

It probably would have been worse for us if we won this game. We have plenty to look forward to, and after last night, your team knows they will crumble next time we meet.

The Dragons lack the killer instinct. They remind a lot of the Roosters between 1996 and 2001. They could rack 50 up against inferior opposition but when it came to the good sides it didn't take much for us to falll away.

At 12-0 and the Roosters with 12 men and Saints getting a penalty they should have really been looking at taking the Roosters out of the game. I believe had they gone for a tap or touch they might have got 6.

Another intersting fact between Saints and the Roosters is that in the last 4 games the Roosters have kept Saints scoreless for one half of the match.

In 2002 it was 20-0 H/T
In 2003 it was 12-0 second half
2004 2-0 H/T
2004 18-0 second half

Saints seem to keep them in the contest.

Actually SR, Its the one thing this season we have found. As you can see by our +180 odd For and Against.
if you have a look at our last few years, its been abysmall, we never won any games during a season by more than 16 points, even though we may have been 24 ahead at times in a game.

This season, for some miraculous reason, we have won a staggering amount of games by more than 26. I think its about 7 games or more.

We lacked Killer instinct the last few years, never put the foot on the throat at all. This year, we are doing jsut that.

Against the Roosters on Friday night, we were not playing the Rabbits. We were short on Quality, 2 Points became available. Had we won the game by 2, it would have been the Best call. But we lost, and hindsight is a wonderfull thing.

But like I said, check our last few years, and you will see we never scored 50, and never kicked on in games.

This year.. Different. yet we still have the same troubles in injuries.

Difference.

Coach Slappy, is putting this team together well, and hte guy is a great coach who is improving each week.

Table might say its the same, but the comp is closer, and like i said, the attitude is there now.

Belief is too. :D

Interesting statistics but with respect, I don't know how this has anything to do with killer instinct. I know this was the case two years ago but this year, I've noticed that Saints tend to keep coming back, when in previous years, they would put the cue in the rack for 20 minutes or so.

btw, You seem to have neglected to mention that Saints won one those matches and outscored the Roosters in other half of another match.
Apart from the 2002 example, both sides have played very close games.

2004 - Half time: Saints 14-0. Fulltime: Roosters 18-14
2004 - Half time: Roosters 2-0. Fulltime: Roosters 11-8
2003 - Half time: Saints 24-8. Fulltime: Saints: 24-20
2002 - Half time: Roosters 20-0. Fulltime: Roosters 26-10

It seems that the Roosters also 'keep them in the contest'.
