Dragons v Storm Game On

despite the storm fielding perhaps their worst starting 11 in the history of the team, and playing away from home they proved too classy ..... dragons fans walking out with 7 mins left for the first match of the season....

dragons despite chasing points walking to scrums.... disgraceful.

I know its only first game of the season, however it looks very much like the McGregor 2014 dragons, really lacking in any genuine attacking structure or set pieces and really relying on individual magic for attacking options.
the boys looked to have a dig in defence, but really nothing in attack.

Surprise surprise this is what you get when you appoint the attacking coach of 2014 in a season where our attack led to a record number of "0" scores, and promote this same person into head coach....

i know its only first game of the season, and fingers crossed it can only get better next week.......
we had more than enough chances but really didnt have anything to test the storm defence.

Forwards held their own (despite Rein..). Backs were very disjointed... looked like u7's type plays most of the night. 1 try from a kick with all that possession is terrible. Lots to be done.

Farrell was the standout for me tonight. Worked like a Trojan in defence. Stopped plenty of Storm raids. Not his fault that he got no opportunities in attack.
Nielsen - a complete waste of space in all departments.
Marshall and Widdop provided no structure at all. Jigging all over the place but going nowhere.
Rein - must of made 100 tackles but absolutely pathetic at D/H. The number 16th best hooker in the game on that performance.

Everybody worked hard in defence but wasted all that effort when we had the ball.

On tonight's performance I'm inclined to start thinking MCGREGOR CAN'T COACH.

After watching most games this round I don't see too many victories in the week's ahead unless something radically changes with our attacking structure. Like having one!

I'm not going to blame any particular player as too many just didn't look ready to play, at times lazy. Almost like a lack of preparedness... surely not.

There was simply not enough go in attack. Too much sideway movement, too many balls hitting the deck from dummy half and first receiver. Sometimes not standing deep enough, other times just doing a training run along the backline.

It was good to see some glimpses of forwards attracting defenders and there were even a couple of good offloads early in the second half, but it didn't last long.

And the opposition were hardly playing well. The game itself was pretty scrappy.

Oh, and Melbourne Storm... still the grubs of the League.

Onto next week...

I dont understand how u can train for 4 months and not have ONE set move in attcak...just ONE...its a disgrace...it really is....just terrible.....

FFS we had one set move at Arnclife Scots U18s that worked albeit we would b flogged ea week but the set move would work.
There wasnt one redeeming feature except for Benji glimpses and Frizzell hard running..
Rein is SHIT!!!!
