Since when did I condone foul / illegal play?I assume once again OT you are having a dig at me for saying that the players of today are FULL TIME PROFESSIONALS as compared to yesteryear. I'm also wondering what it would have been like cheering for a spear tackle so that player could be removed from the field possibly with a broken neck, but you would call that inspiration. I'm sure you would remember the name Les Boyd, what a marvelous example of a sportsman that man was, but then again I suppose you have a photo of him in your living room. Why dont you just enjoy the fact you got to see the best (in your eyes) and leave it at that, instead of continually smashing our current players and coaches no matter from any side in the NRL, there is no comparison, there never will be any comparison.
I understand the present and the past but have simply pointed out that I believe there are better records than Bennett and it is you that wishes to diminish / dismiss the coaches of former years.
You intimated that things were different form now to back then and how much harder it is for the coaches but I do not believe you have made your case and the things you have used to prosecute your argument I contend were as relevant then as they are now regardless of full time professionalism or not.
78,056 at GF in a ground that held 60,000 at best and > 40,000 turning up to watch a test match v's the old enemy or for that matter Saints V anyone Sat 3pm at the SCG indicates that the public were more than happy with the product and the coach's were primarily responsible for that.
