I want to know about this match as well Pepe. Saints scored seven tries to two and with six goals, I'm assuming that most of those tries were scored near the uprights.
The majority of points coming through the backs which usually means the opposition were soft up the middle.....hmmm...should never assume so we'll wait for a report from someone who was there.

yes compressed defence
we got smashed in the middle of the rucks but carved you up out wide!
most of out tries were out wide with Riddell on fire kicking i think 4/5 all from near the touchline, Hornby kicking goal from near touchline and Blacklock kicking goal next to posts!
Geyers 2 conversions he missed were pretty simple near enough in front!

So if geyer missed 2 from near to in front and they were conversion attempts, who gave away the penalties with in goal kicking distance and what were they for?

Hi Everyone
Just before I comment on this topic just want to say Hi to everyone and Pepe especially...hope to see you at the Raiders vs Storm game, maybe at the social club.

Pepe,
I agree with your comments re Mark Murray and our sliding defence.
However, on this game, don't forget we had 5 regulars out, so I wouldn't read too much into it, but of course, the result was a thrashing.

Cheers and roll on season 2002.!

g'day ms storm

i'll be at the first game, will catch up with you there no doubt,it will be good to kick off the season with a winagainst the hapless raiders even with our controversial compressed defence.

you are right we did have 5 of our best players out, we more than any other team struggle to replace our regular starters given we simply don't have the depth of the parras of this world.

we'll let the saints have there moment of glory in wagga wagga,we''ll have our's when the real season kicks off.

My turn now...it was a trial. Coaches experimenting and both teams were testing their depth.
But you're right. Melbourne were without their best...Kimmorley, Nikau, the large slow moving one, to name but a few.
