Besty was & still is a very good player.

We've seen Reick have 2 or 3 good games across 3 seasons. Merrit? 10 mins. Who else?
best was a proven performer & played very well if not better than the best in the NRL most of times.
his speed is fantastic. & he had a good bit of mongrel in him too.

Agreed. Colin's attacking ability was better than most by far, and better than what we've seen since he left. The only factor that let his play down IMO was his habit of leaving his wing in defence. He gave away a few tries doing that.

Wendell Sailor rated Best as a player of the future in a Fox Sports interview, and he also made City Origin in 2001.

Best was his own worst enemy. He never seemed to back himself. He had something special but as SS said, never really made it.

Didn't he win best winger at the dallys or come second in the try scorers thingy one year?
I remember we had him & whippet up in the top three scorers one year.

Don't get me wrong I loved watching the legend, but he fizzed out. I remember him destroying Wests in 99 at home, bloody beeeewtiful.
