What’s the drug testing procedures in the NRL??

I think it’s been over 10 yrs now (Adam McDougall!) since anyone got busted for taking sport enhancing drugs? Do you think its prevalent in the NRL, but not detected because players have found a way to beat the system or maybe officials turning the blind eye?

Depends when and how they are tested. If they know before hand when they are testing it becomes nothing more than an IQ test. Plus there are no suitable tests for Human Growth Hormone, which the wealthier players could afford.

luke mcdougall found the best way to beat the system.....

he ran away when he was asked to provide a test.

I know of at least 2 players for certain that still take recreational drugs regularly.

Recreational drug use shouldn't be the NRL's concern anyway. Thats a matter that should be dealt with by the courts, or by a club if they feel that a player's recreational activities are impacting their performance. NRL policy ought to concern itself with performance enhancing substances, ie cheating. I don't give a shit if a player wants to pop an eccy or smoke a joint on the weekend, thats their problem.
