The working class Burgesses v the upper class Hookes is going to run and run you can bet your house on it..

I'm staggered that companies pay her $1300 tp post a pic online, why would anyone be interested in what she is advertising, has she actually done anything?

Because 81,000 sets of eyeballs sees it. Marketing 101. As much as I hate it, social media has bigger numbers now than traditional media.

Souths stand by Sam Burgess and say he WILL mentor young players despite allegations about his failed marriage and wild partying ways
  • Burgess is still lined up to coach the South Sydney Rabbitohs' under-19 squad
  • Despite accusations relating to his marriage and claims of excessive partying
  • Rabbitohs chief executive has said plans raised last month were going ahead
  • Burgess, 31, stood himself down from his coaching role following accusations
By CHARLIE COË and STEPHEN GIBBS and JOSH HANRAHAN FOR DAILY MAIL AUSTRALIA

  • NRL star Sam Burgess is still set to coach the South Sydney Rabbitohs' up-and-coming young players despite serious allegations about his professional and personal life.
An article in The Australian newspaper last week contained bombshell accusations about his behaviour towards his ex-wife Phoebe and claims of excessive partying.

The claims have sparked an NRL Integrity Unit investigation as well as the launching of a police strike force, but Rabbitohs chief executive Blake Solly said plans were still going ahead for the 31-year-old to coach the club's under-19s squad.

The move comes despite Burgess standing himself down from his off-field coaching role with the club and commentary role with Fox Sports in the wake of the accusations.

Mr Solly brought up Burgess' appointment as the coach of the junior team - which plays in New South Wales' S.G. Ball Cup competition - in a question-and-answer video interview with fans on Thursday.

'Sam Burgess and John Sutton will be the coaches of our S.G. Ball team, which is a first,' Mr Solly said in the video published to the Rabbitohs' website.

Burgess retired last October after a spate of injuries but stayed at the club, where he has been working as a development coach. His move into the youth set-up was first hinted at last month.

The embattled ex-player's new appointment at the club would nonetheless be dependent on the outcome of the league's integrity unit investigation, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Rabbitohs CEO Blake Solly mentioned Burgess' appointment as the coach of the under-19s team in a video question-and-answer session with fans

The NSW Rugby League said no application for Burgess and Sutton - another retired Rabbitohs player - to coach the under-19s side has been received by the sporting body.

Claims of Burgess's alleged excessive partying and accusations about his conduct towards Phoebe were made in The Australian newspaper last week.

Burgess's media lawyer Mark O'Brien has said: 'The allegations are false and constitute an indefensible defamation against my client.

'It is apparent sources of the false allegations are those currently in dispute with my client over various issues.'

The NRL's integrity unit has commenced an inquiry into the allegations and the New South Wales Police Force has formed Strike Force Irrabella to investigate.

Staff members at Souths have also been accused of ignoring Burgess's alleged indiscretions.

Burgess was hit with an apprehended violence order taken out by police on behalf of his father-in law Mitch Hooke after an alleged confrontation between the pair last October. Mr Hooke is pictured with his daughter Phoebe

Among the major allegations were claims about an incident inside the Burgess home at Maroubra, in Sydney's east, in November 2018 when the father-of-two was behaving erratically.

A former teammate of Burgess is due to be questioned by police over Zoom this week from the UK, where he is playing in the English Super League.

Jason Clark was the person Phoebe Burgess turned to during the 2018 incident with Sam at their home, The Australian reported.

Evidence Clark gives to police could form a key part of the investigation into Burgess and South Sydney, as well as the team's medical staff.

Clark had attended the couple's house along with Burgess' mother Julie, who had brought Sam and older brother Luke home from a city hotel.

Mr Hooke and his wife Sarah were also reportedly at the house.

Detectives have already interviewed Phoebe and visited several relevant locations, including an underground car park where Burgess allegedly received medical treatment.

A pharmacy linked to the club's doctor Andrew McDonald has also reportedly been visited by police.

Souths co-owner, Hollywood star Russell Crowe, could be called to give evidence before the NRL inquiry.

Burgess has been holed-up at his home in Coogee, in Sydney's east, since the allegations were published.

He stood down from his off-field coaching role with the club and commentary role with Fox League has been left 'devastated' by the accusations against him, a close friend told The Daily Telegraph.

'He is angry and feels like he doesn't have a voice,' the friend said.

'[The allegations are] something that is abhorrent to him, which makes it all the more harder to stomach.'

Souths CEO Mr Solly has said he knew nothing of the allegations made by The Australian until being contacted by journalists.

On Sunday morning, club coach Wayne Bennett also said he had only just become aware of the allegations.

Since his retirement in October 2019, Burgess has been a coach at former club South Sydney Rabbitohs. He has now stood down from that role

'I've been here since 2018 and I knew nothing about it until I'd been told in the last 24 hours,' Bennett said.

'I have never had a player or any staff member talk to me about it in any shape or form.

'They are allegations. When we get all the facts together and see this at the end of the day, we will take another position on it and make another statement.'

Ms Burgess remains with her family in Bowral, caring for the two young children she shares with Burgess.

Her manager Sharon Finnigan said: 'Phoebe is trying to get by and manage and care for her two children… She is doing her best as a single mother.'

The Burgesses married at Phoebe's parents home in December 2015 and separated in December 2018, weeks after the birth of their son Billy.

The couple had rekindled their relationship by April 2019 but split again last October.

Their divorce was finalised in April. They also have an older daughter, Poppy.Souths confirm Burgess will coach future teenage stars in 2021

that family looks like they would own a plantation in Georgia.
I reckon they have an acre or 2 under cotton somewhere.

I also would bet they have a beach house at Taree & the old man got frisky with the local help in late 1990.

'I believe every woman deserves to feel valued,' she wrote, adding, 'it's just about forging onwards and honouring the people you commit to'

'I believe every woman deserves to feel valued and feel like they are 'worth it' without changing what's on the inside. I'm worth it because I am at my best - and feel most valued - when I am 'Mum'.'

In the accompanying photo, Phoebe beamed in a selfie, wearing a romantic white blouse and Louis Vuitton hat, along with red lipstick.
Two days prior, Phoebe returned to Instagram after a 10-day absence, posting two photos taken at her parents' Southern Highlands estate.

Phoebe posed with her daughter, Poppy, three, and thanked her fans for supporting her and her children.

Phoebe shares both Poppy and son, Billy, one, with her ex-husband, Sam Burgess, 31.

Her return to the spotlight comes after revelations regarding Sam's personal life.

On October 2, Sam was formally stood down from his coaching role at the South Sydney Rabbitohs after claims about his marriage and wild lifestyle were published in The Australian.

The NRL and NSW Police have both launched investigations into the allegations.

The lawyer acting for Sam Burgess, Mark O'Brien, has strongly denied all allegations.

'The allegations are false and constitute an indefensible defamation against my client,' Mr O'Brien said.

The article included text messages Phoebe allegedly sent to Hollywood star Russell Crowe, who part-owns the Rabbitohs NRL club, in November 2018.

Rabbitohs staff members have also been accused of covering up Sam's alleged indiscretions. It is not alleged that Russell was involved in any cover-up.

'I thought we had the world at our feet together,' Phoebe allegedly wrote to the actor. 'He might need a good friend because he is just not our Sam.'

The article also included text messages Sam allegedly sent to Phoebe, after her initial conversation with the club owner came to light.

'Phoebe why did you message RC saying everything,' Sam allegedly wrote. 'What are you trying to solve here?'

In the wake of the initial article, more bombshell claims about the 31-year-old footballer have come to light.

Sam was staying with his brother Luke at The Establishment, in Sydney's CBD, on November 5, 2018, following a farewell BBQ for Souths player Jason Clark, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Phoebe was reportedly at home while her husband continued to stretch the festivities over a day.

Denial: The lawyer acting for Burgess, Mark O'Brien, has strongly denied all allegations

According to the report, Sam returned home when his mother Julie - known to NRL fans as 'Mrs B' - descended on the swanky hotel in the early hours of the evening.

Julie allegedly asked hotel staff for the number of her son's hotel room and after an hour of convincing, she moved Sam and Luke into a car.

'Julie virtually had to drag Sam and Luke to her car by their ears, but somehow she got them out of that room and into her car,' a source claimed.

NRL CEO Andrew Abdo said the league has launched an investigation into the claims made by The Australian, but they will not take action based off allegations.

'The action we have taken is to initiate the investigation,' he said last Friday.

'Because these are allegations, we don't have the facts before us, we're not going to be taking any further action until we have the information needed to do that.

'However, I believe that Sam Burgess has stood himself down from South Sydney Rabbitohs duties this weekend. And I also believe that he has stood down from Fox Sports as well.'

Mr Abdo said the claims against Burgess were 'very serious allegations'.

'We will look to work with the club to find out what happened and to get to the bottom of the facts,' he said.

'We will also co-operate with the NSW Police, who have also begun an investigation into the matter. If these allegations are proven, we will take the strongest possible action that we can.'

NSW Police said they would be conducting their own investigation.

South Sydney released a statement saying the allegations were 'very concerning' and they would be treated with the 'utmost seriousness'.

'There is no place in our society for violence, harassment or abuse against women. If anyone is found guilty of allegations of this nature, the club will take the strongest possible action,' a Rabbitohs spokesperson said.
