DT: The UK is calling Eels half (Robson to UK?)

HE'S one of the reasons behind Jarryd Hayne's stunning return to form, but Jeff Robson is in danger of being lost to both the Eels and the NRL.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal English Super League clubs are circling the tough No.7 with the Eels yet to make an offer to keep him in the blue and gold next year.
Robson has been a big part of the Eels' finals charge with his tough defence and on-field leadership helping the likes of Hayne and Daniel Mortimer shine - but that might not keep the 27-year-old at Parramatta.
"I would really like to see him stay at Parramatta and help the club's young halves come through,'' said Robson's agent Gavin Orr. "But in today's market it is getting harder and harder for players to survive. The salary cap makes it tough and he is getting interest from other clubs.
"There aren't many quality halfbacks in the UK and it mightbe something for him to consider.''
Kris Keating and Mortimer have been earmarked as the club's next halves pairing in a move that could force Robson to go to Europe.

If they offer him a better deal then we can (if we offer him one at all) then good luck to him and I hope he wins the Man Of Steel award there.

But from a Parra point of view, he is handy to have around.

I know I don't want him gone.... What if kk gets injured who we got to come in?? We need robbo to help with the development of young players and he would be a handy bench player

R.S.R - resign robson

Fair enough, if we can't offer him security, then he is entitled to look for it where ever he can. Just bad luck for us though.

i hope he gets a good offer and he is happy to go over there and play for a while - cos he's worked his arse off for us and deserves a decent payday

He must be the most capped resi player, take the cash and run. I think he's held his own, but has worked off the back off the other blokes also.

if esl can offer him a good deal, he should be on the first flight to sign it.

good on him if that happens, he's never going to more than a minimum wage player in the nrl, so it will be a good reward for form.

matt head could be a good backup

he is clearly the best half/back up half available in the market right now so it's no surprise that he's being circled by ESL clubs, good luck to him, he's had a steller season.

lets hope we nab young Tom Humble...

Ditto. At his level he's not chasing the bucks through his player manager and the media, he's simply worth more than the $55K we could offer him.

What an inspirational story! A guy who's struggled with injury and high-profile players being ahead of him all his career. A guy who was set to give the game away. Given one final chance to prove himself at the top level. And he shows (to himself and others) that he's got what it takes. It just goes to show that it's never too late. I said some weeks ago that Robson had now played himself into a situation where he was going to price himself out of another contract with the Eels. Quite ironic, isn't it? Many people saying at the start of the year that he wasn't up to first grade standard - and now we can't afford him! Good luck, Jeff. You really are a success story.

Well said lingard, its just unfortunate that due to his performances he is worth more than he has ever been! I say good luck to him. He will serve an esl team well !
