it was 'cleary' to most that once Ivan upped and left Wests to go to Penrith that anything he ever had to say about attitude, commitment, loyalty, etc from then on in public or among the panthers playing group, were hollow and meaningless. The decision he made was professional suicide.
Actions speak louder than words, and DWZ is merely following his leader's illustrious example.
On top of this, he's put himself in a lose-lose situation coaching his son.
He doesn't have the professional distance to drop Nathan if required. If he does it could potentially damage his relationship and family life.
But if other players get dropped for poor performance but Nathan is un-droppable, then how does the rest of the team respond? Exactly like DWZ has, I would guess.
Every decision in this mess by Penrith and Ivan Cleary has been a disaster.
