Dykes rumour won't go away...

If the club releases Dykes next year without a suitable replacement we are well and truely farked. He might not be the best halfback/five-eight in the world but we've seen how bad we are without him this year.

We havent been that great with him. Its Hindy that we crumble without. Im my opinion, Dykes has never given his ALL for this club. He has whinged about this, that and the other and tends to blame other players when games are lost. I just dont think he has the heart to play for Parra, where as he is a Shire boy thru and thru and should fit easily in back at Cronulla where his game time, etc, will no doubt lift.

To me what that means is that we're pretty confident about signing a 1/2 (god know who though) for next year. I like to think that Smith isn't an idiot (you don't coach 400+ 1st grade games by being an idiot) and I'm sure he's seen enough this year to know that neither Thorman, Witt or Morris for that matter, is our half solution for next year................

Well Parra were VERY confident of getting Orford and that could have been where the press got hold of Dykes going.

I'm certain that plan was to sign both Orford and Riddell and have a halves combo of Morris at 5/8 and Orford at 1/2 with Witt & T.Smith the back ups and Dykes back to the Sharks.

With Orford staying at Melbourne maybe the Dykes release has been put away.

Like it or not since Dykes went off injured, 99.9% of attacking options inside the opponents 20 has disappeared, despite his erratic form, given the current options at Parramatta Dykes is very much needed in the side

There are no halves for us to buy. So if Smith's thinking of releasing Dykes he must have a back-up plan and should be using it now. Witt/ Thorman as a halves combination won't do any good I don't think. Perhaps he sees Morris/ Witt as the combination. Then again there is Tim Smith. Maybe he should give young Smith a go in first grade while we have injuries, see if he's up to the task.

We need Dykes if anyone should be released its Witt and Thormann who offer nothing. Next year Dykes and Tim SMith could make a good combo with Tim Smith easing in to the role of half back under Dykes

You never know what Brian will come up with. He might have some nutty professor scheme to convert Morris into a halfback, who knows. Joe Williams would be a high priority right now if it were up to me though. He's going to be something special that kid.
