Well it is their job to change that narrative is it not?

Yup. He is willing to get his hands on the ball as much as possible. Although alot of experts says he's not a 7, i reckon he actually plays like a 7 like a DCE.

He just needs to work on his boot more but then if you have Burton, you can sort of get away without a big boot.

I also wished Moses would get his hands on the ball more like Galvin does.

Moses doesn’t have the strength to carry the ball in traffic. He is better running at isolated defenders, which is more likely out wide.

Identifying the problem is the first step to solving the problem.

We may never be the most desired destination in the NRL. However we can make steps to becoming better.

It is an attention economy. Gould has done wonders marketing the Dogs. Making them a more desirable location.

There is not a more interactive club official than Phil Gould. He gives the Dogs Identity and a voice.

Then they should likely be not employed, given if they had any KPIs they failed. Don’t bother to reply as most think they are at the bottom end of their job descriptions and successes in the NRL ( except you )

Pou, I think Brian Smith was able to secure some elite talent.

Tahu and to a lesser extent a rejuvenated Michael Buettner, Jason Bell and PJ Marsh were great examples. Mark Riddell was also a great signing at the time. The last big name we signed that was a current SOO player was Michael Jennings. Justin Poore was one too but it didn’t work out. A case can also be made for Kieran Foran too.

I just want MON to be able to replicate the level above, nobody is asking for Nathan Cleary or Cameron Munster.

The first bit of ruthlessness this club has shown 15-20 years was Jason Ryles coming in and tapping RCG/Gutho on the shoulder.

The way we handled BA's exit from the club was painful. The CEO and board dragged it out too long the mess has become harder to clean up.

A ruthless club would have punted him at end of 2023 after missing the finals.

Instead we trotted out the excuses with players injured and missing 23 games through suspension that year. When missing the finals was inexcusable.

And then basically wasted an entire year off the back of not being ruthless 6 months earlier.

They do things and then manufacture a narrative through the media.

The story was created long before any actions are carried out.

Everything Gould does, he ensures the media and fan interpretation is exactly what he wants circulating.

Create the story > plant seeds > reflect on public and media opinion > pivot if necessary > carry out what your going to do > by this time the narrative is created and once again the dogs are front and centre of the show.

Perception is reality. Gould is the king of controlling this.

After sacking Brad Arthur because he supposedly ‘couldn’t take us to the next level’ are we now happy to just buy our way back to being good-but-not-great?

Getting to where we need to go is a process, and there are no quick fixes. Gould’s work at Canterbury (and Penrith before that) didn’t bring results overnight.

They are in the middle. Their results didn’t just start in 2023. They’ve run the club since 2019.

We haven’t won a thing in 40 years. Whatever you want to call “the process,” it boils down to identifying the right juniors to develop and recruiting external players who are at least mid- to high-tier quality.

Penrith and Canterbury — the clubs you’re pointing to — followed that exact formula. We’ve tried it ourselves in the past, but either we’ve been terrible at executing it or, as you’ve often suggested, just plain unlucky. Actually every f**king club is trying it but we just must be cursed. Brad Arthur too although you only mentioned the former coach to get a rise out of people. Your default MO.

At the end of the day , it appears that we do not have the sharp end of recruitment in Position at the club. No matter how people like Pou try to spin it, their tenure in recruitment has been well below par.

They seem to underestimate how our peers operate. Could be that when Galvin suggested he would sign for us, they thought the job was done, but Gus just kept hammering until he convinced not his manager, but the player direct. We are friggin amateurs since we had operators like Brian Smith and to a lesser extent Bernie Gurr.

Sarantinos appointed them and oversees their progress, if Ryles cannot push the envelope with the current mob in charge , time for a change. They haven’t appeared to be successful when in competition,it’s just sad for a club our size.

It’s interesting how many people look back fondly on Bernie Gurr’s tenure and the impact he had and there’s certainly some merit to that. For example, Moses mentioned that Bernie had a positive influence on his decision to come to Parra and spoke highly of how he sold the club to him.

MON was hired due to his experience in the NRL and academic qualifications and to provide a new platform to compete with our peers. It was a gamble given he had no previous experience in the role and had a low profile across player managers.

It’s been a gamble that hasn’t worked , time to look at results and make a decision to improve R&R .

Agree. Making finals should have been the KPI in the contract extension (despite getting lucky with a 2022 GF appearance), after that many years already at the club.

If BA didn't want to sign the extension with that condition, then best of luck with his next endeavours.
