/I agree love a great red headI think we unearthed our new Lance Thompson.
Hoping this achieves more pages over time than the 'Sack McGregor' thread.
Forwards with leg speed. Such a big part of the modern game. And we have really needed it.Dylan played very well today
great leg speed
a very solid defender
Luc will need to lift his game otherwise he will find himself on the bench
Not to mention LPT and imo the most talented of the bunch, HalangahuEgan had a great game. In few years time Egan, Stewart, Couchmans will be our starting pack. The club should lock them in long term before vultures come circling
I agree with you KW.Not to mention LPT and imo the most talented of the bunch, Halangahu
Yeah man the reason I didn't mention Latu is cos he hasn't been extended yet... but I think after today we have to make it a priority to extend him ASAP because he is too good not to keep. After all, our forward pack is aging and we need to really put emphasis on developing these young guysI agree with you KW.
But along with the outstanding debut of Egan today, we have so much young forward talent coming through our pathways.
There are going to have to be some tough decisions on who we keep and who we let go in the near future
I have got Latu in there as well, not too far behind Halangahu.
totally agree with you rev , I would like to see flanagan rotate all the young kids, would be better for both their minds and body. The couchmen are the only juniors in recent memory that have made it to first grade and look like they belong, mind you 2023/2024 were kind of building years.. and they are still a few years from their prime.
I've been pretty non-fussed on Egan coming through, definitely last year he wasnt ready, he got slightly better each game in cup, starting to threaten just a little more with ball in hand towards the back end.. but he is/was never as explosive as NickT with his running game.. Egan is also a very small man mind you, but I dndt realise that until I saw him next to other players because it doesnt effect his ability in contact.. and hes only 20.. I mean hes going to be quite a unit in 2-4yrs..
But I've been realising this year with both Stewart and Egan that 'everything else apart from hitup metres' means more than I thought... effort areas.. scramble, defensive technique, attitude.... and as much as I love Lucianos huge runs.. some of his defensive lapses make winning games in the NRL very difficult.. the game is so elite that a couple of errors or lazy tackles is the momentum change to lose you a game.....and we won tonight because we made very few defensive errors.
I dont know if Egan is a 27 Round player.. maybe we will rotate him throughout the year, but every step up in grade is a big deal.. Cup to 1st grade is the biggest of all... and he looked tonight the same as he does in cup and thats not easy to do.. he wasnt even playing on his usual side... I mean there is a long way to go and maybe he has a dud game next week.. but I think we can all see there is a reliable team player there that mixed in with a few superstars around him.. if he goes beyond that... even better.
I just love that these guys are proper bleed red v local kids too.. its more than a game or a job to them.

Add Hamish Stewart to that listI could almost shed a tear - it's been a long time, but we finally have a junior forward who is potentially going to play a lot of games and become a fan favourite + a club great. Dylan Egan - outstanding debut ! The rest of the boys clearly like playing with him and will no doubt be doing everything they can to help him succeed.
