Dynasty League ???

i've been thinking.

since most of the same people have participated again in the nfl.com fantasy league why don't we start a dynasty league.

the way this works is - we have a full draft this season, play out the season and then we keep the same team for the following seasons. the draft for following years would only be for the rookies who entered the nfl that year. the bench would be about 10 players so you can offload the players you don't want for the rookies. this is a great way to get attached to your team and will make the draft even better because you will need to draft for the future as well as the present season.

if most people agree we can scrap the nfl.com league and start one on yahoo for the same time and date. at the end of the season we can save our teams in a thread in this forum and then the following season yahoo allows you to have an offline draft. that way we just enter the teams from the previous season. the last placed team will have first spot in the draft, which we will have to do in this forum, and the winner will have the last spot.

if a couple of people are unavailable for the following season we can just give their teams to someone else, fisrt in first served and they can then choose which rookies they want.

i am very keen to do a dynasty league. but it requires people to be very commited otherwise there's no point. when i say commited i mean just change your team every week for injuries and byes, you don't have to spend alot of your time on it.

what do you guys think?

the offline draft means the managers have a draft somewhere and then the commisioner just enters the teams into the computer. in our case we will be entering the teams we finished with the previous year.

the draft for the rookies will have to be held in this forum. the results from this can be added to the managers' corresponding teams into the computer.

it's a little time consuming for the commisioner but it can be done.

I started pitching this idea a few years ago but the biggest worry is how committed the people you choose are. I can name probably 4 or 5 from here that I believe would be around in a few years time but dynasty leagues suck if thats the core & the rest revolve. I'd gladly give it a go though if your giving it some serious thought.

Ive always loved the idea of a keeper league or dynasty league, but didnt know how you could do it without paying, I was unaware yahoo had this option.

Im definately in, but I think we'd have to pick our coaches rather than have a first in best dressed system because we have had 1 or 2 (at least) every year who are keen, they sign up, and we never hear from them again.

great to see there is some interest in a dynasty league.

and i agree the managers need to be commited for the long haul. i only thought about it because most of the guys who were in the nfl.com league last year seemed to join this year as well. that's the type of commitment it needs.

but how do we work out which person will be there for the long haul? i know i will. i'm pretty sure many in the league now would be, going by last season's efforts. but how will we really find out?

paully, is there any way for you to create a 10 deep bench in the nfl.com league? if there is we can have the first season at nfl.com.

there are already 6 guys in this thread keen to give it a go. we probably need 10 as a minimum, 12 would be great. as long as they are commited to the cause.

Ive looked around at our league and also if we were to create a new league and I cant find anywhere to adjust the roster limits. I think this may be available to players who pay only?

paully, that's disappointing news, although expected. so if we do this thing it will have to be on yahoo from the get go.

i have no problem setting it up and will add a wr/rb flex position just to make it a little more interesting........1qb,2rb,2wr,1w/r,1te,1k,1def,10bench.

all i need is for everyone to give me the go ahead and be aware the league will be moved to yahoo.

7 down, we need 5 more.

the only person i'm not familiar with from last season is sharks-spurs but he seems pretty keen.

are there 5 other posters out there willing to commit themselves to this? let us know.

Have played before in a private league but didnt last year due to dial-up issues.

More than happy for a Dynasty type League as you can select a young guy and have him tucked on your bench for a few years.

Gday, I'm a mate of Paullyboys and I'd be keen to join in for this fantasy nfl league you got going. I'd be a commited coach in for the long hall, and I follow the nfl closely, so I know all the players and what not.

i think that's enough people to make it a goer.

but that means there are 4 people from the nfl.com league who are unaccounted for.

looking at the list i can work out 3 of them - legend, mystery girl and douglas allen. i can't work out the 4th person.

i will set up the dynasty league at yahoo for the same day and time as the other league.

i think the traditional points system as in nfl.com will be the way to go.

is there any way someone can contact the others and let them know we will be moving over to yahoo and if they want to actually join in. i know in the past that some people had a problem logging into the yahoo league.

paully, it's best not to delete the nfl.com league until the yahoo one gets 12 managers signed up.

i will provide the details in the next couple of days.

ok, there's been a change of plans.

i set up the league at foxsports. they have a good set up and offer everything that yahoo does plus they have live scoring.

i recently participated in a draft there just to see what it's like and i thought it was pretty good. the live scoring made it a no brainer.
