Has anyone got it?

I think it's the best rugby game I have ever played. Finally a game which is better that the old Lomu Rugby. I'm a massive league fan but I love this game.

What do you think?

I know of a few guys who have it and rave about it. The ability to do off the ball stuff and stiff arm people is quite a fun adaption.

Going to get a copy this weekend

Good, because I quite like Rugby 2005, despite not being able to win any ball when playing England.

I've heard the player stats are a bit better and that the kicking in general play is also good.

Mate, I bought a copy because everyone said it was good and first impressions were good, awesome because the players felt great to manouver on the field, the step move is cool, the fend and shake off of tackles is cool, the kicking game is great also but after two days I sold my copy to a mate because I couldn't get the hang of the damn thing and kept losing on the easy difficulty mostly from having not played a rugby game before and the controls felt awkward after playing the league games for so long aaand because it was Rugby. Hello, what happens, I end up playing it again at his place and kicking butt, everything clicked and now I want it back but he loves it too so looks like I'm gonna have to spend a a few extra bucks to get another copy.

Long story short, awesome game but wish it was Rugby League.

Hard luck Radman. Yeah I wish it was league to but jeez it's a top game. Once you get the hang of the controls it's tops.

I like the RL2 controls although I find you seem to get slicker passing with the Rugby game. I also like the set moves from scrums etc and I've heard this has been improved as well.

Whats the AI like?

I take it it's hard to win, but not farcical like Rugby 2005 where you couldn't recycle ruck ball?

Its very hard to win. Playing against the higher ranked teams ie a rating of 80 and above the game is played like true rugby (slow and very tactical) and it is very hard to penetrate the defensive line. Grubbers and bombs come in very handy.

Although you play the teams with rankings of about 65 and below and you can just run around the outside of the defensive line and this mostly work, or switch the play and bust them up the middle.

Its very good, but very similar to rugby 2005. I thuoght it was worth spending the money on, but another mate didnt. I find that you have less time with the ball, more turn overs when isolated. There are more shadows to the game now graphic wise. Passing feels smoother for mine!! The step is great and so is the fend, but they are old. THe world league is a ton better now, its still the same but you have players who get interested in your team from you winning etc, unlike past games where a sh*tty team could attract the big names for enough points. I am playing this on elite in world league and its definately a challenge, you play for territory and utilise kciks from the back of the ruck and you win some, lose some.

The high tackle is fun, but boy it starts fights when you win a game by an illegal tackle that doesnt get penalised!! this game turns best friends into mortal enemies.

He is sort of of.... they got some guy called "J Lamo" who plays on the wing for Cardiff so I am pretty sure it is meant to be him. EA were restricted by copyright for a few things thanks to Rugby Challenge 2006 (all French club teams are unofficial)

This is a great game easily best rugby game ever, the step, palm, shoulder charge actually work, the star players really do make a difference (BOD is constantly making breaks, Habana is quick silver, Mccaw/Smith really make a difference at the breakdown) and the AI actually poses a difficulty on the higher levels this time. And World League is really improved (you can swap clubs, they have transfer windows and you deal in money not stupid "points" like 2005)

Okay, I hired a copy out yesaterday and "converted" it to my PS2 hard drive.

Awesome game. Unlike 2005, the fends and shoulder charges work. I'm having a few issues with the set plays but will get the hang of it.

Good to see the Reds are as crap in this game as in real life. Looks like I'm going to have to inject the newly created RU superstar, Thomas into the backline.

Yeah I bought the game yesterday and so far it's pretty good. I must admit it is a lot more difficult and complex than 2005, and obviously the new teams add some more playability to the game. The game appears to have more of an NBA feel to it, with the stars above the great players' heads.
I am having a few problems though, especially in attack, with the set plays. I hope this comes to me soon, and the goalkicking is also much harder.

Just a question I'm playing as the Reds in World League? Does this mean they are the QLD reds? It seems as though they have no players from QLD in the team!!! Also any tips for using the step and fend??

The World League is basically you starting out with a team of no names and you have to recruit players.....you usually end up with a team that doesn't resemble the Reds or any other franchise.

As for the step and fend....its all in the timing...and having the right player. Obviously Rodney Blake isn't going to be twinkle toes, is he. I've found stepping while sprinting usually works better....Latham on the counter attack is lethal.
