Early calls for 2009 rookie of the year...

OK, I can't remember anyone picking Glenn Buttriss to be our 2008 rookie of the year at the start of the season, nor the emergence of Justin Carney as a first grade regular.

So, any early calls for the 2009 rookie of the year? It would be easy to throw out the likes of Dugan, Fensom or Thomp...err...Waddell, so maybe give us a name out of the blue...someone who has shown you something that others may not have picked up yet.

With a spot open the the three-quarters my dark horse is Kose Leilei or maybe Drury Low. I'd love to see Waddell have crack at first grade too.

With our luck in the halfs, and from what I've seen him so far, I'll pick Josh McCrone for our rookie of the year.

Furner certainly seems to have some big wraps on Vidot. It'll be interesting to see how he kicks along.

Travis Waddell ... although he's got a few in front of him ... I'm sure there will be sometime in the season when he'll be introduced ... Furner will do the obvious and give Flanagan the start based on $$$ ... it will then be a battle between Butts and Wadds.

Vidot definitely looks the goods although I had raps on Drury Low last season as well (is he still around?).

If McCrone shows the sort of form he hinted to us in the Sharkies trial he'll be placing some pressure on the likes of Herby.

Be an outside back. We've got no depth there so someone is guarunteed a good run.

Vidot or Dugan.

agreed on waddell
he's my pick

Vidot, Low, Dugan, and Thompson (if kept and still eligable) will be well in contention... if THompson is not kept, Shaun Fensom comes into play

Daniel Joyce maybe? He has some big wraps from people that watched alot of QLD cup.
I reckon Brophy or Croker could suprise outwide if they have bulked up a bit.

Hopefully both Vidot & Dugan are in our backline by mid season. Then watch the vultures start to circle again...
