And the Parramatta Eels took on the Western Suburbs Magpies at Campbelltown Stadium Saturday 25 March 1989.
A match we won 30-10 with Eric Grothe sen scoring 2 tries but most memorable for the work of Cameron Blair the Wests captain helping to stop Tony Cossato swallowing his tongue after being hit in a heavy tackle.
Sportsmanship was still alive and well back then.
Let's hope we have a great contest this Monday
Go the Eels!!!!

EGS only scored the one try, with Fitzhenry, Kenny, Jackson and Laurie scoring the others and Fitzhenry kicking 5/7.

I was at the game, sitting on those big white bleachers that moved from Lidcombe oval out to Campbelltown

Andrew Fitzhenry. I remember him well. A pretty good player. Fast. A great goal kicker as I recall. Did he come from The Magpies MJC?

Same. I remember thinking why is Blair attacking cosato for no reason when my old man said he has swallowed his tongue

Sideline eye, tony mcvay (can’t remember exact name). I started cringing when Debbie Spillane became a commentator.

Lol my old man use to make jokes about how Spillane loved going into the dressing room at full time to look at cocks

Was actually a Parra local but made his debut for Penrith in the halves in 1987, playing 4 games there before moving to the Eels. Played 35 games with us from '89-92 (30 of those at fullback).

I think he was a first grade cricketer as well?
