The Butcher boys[2 of them] were supposedly held in the highest regard by Sths--the best of the best!!Sths did not want to lose them.Their Father played for Sths.

Yet they both walked!!They were both enticed away by Easts. One was Captain,I think,of the Easts NYC that won the comp & rated their best player!! The NYC lock of the Year!

They obviously saw a better situation for the best development of their f/ball at Easts under Robinson & Co!!

Easts had the shits about Souths signing Crichton and retaliated, but Crichton was playing rugby at the time and was on a course that was destined for that code, he wasn't poached from the roosters.

Not sure if this is correct but it has been said that it's costing the SSDJRL more than the roosters are putting in for their players.

The kids concerned should simply sign up to one of the Souths affiliated clubs and keep playing. or form a new club in the Souths district and keep playing.

So if they form a new club is that going to cost Souths more or less?
Infact it doesn't cost Souths anything as Souths put less in than easts do.

SSDJRLFC not the seniors, none of this issue has been initiated by the seniors.

I understand that. That's why I think the argument easts are freeloading is a lot of shit when Souths aren't putting anything in themselves.
They should be worrying about getting as many kids in to the sport full stop. If they go on and play for Souths fantastic but this is just pathetic.

Souths organised many years ago with a juniors leagues club to support junior sport in their area and it has proved to be successful.

Why can't they run their own juniors comps???

I'm not saying they shouldn't but they're obviously not going to and you can't claim what are essentially children because they played for a club affiliated to a club which is affiliated to Souths.

Great so why moan when these juniors then go on to play seniors elsewhere if it's to support junior sport.
Supporting junior sport is what it should be about.

Souths Juniors allegiance is obviously to South Sydney, but to me this whole episode highlights the need for the roosters to re-locate to an area where they have an adequate junior base.

why not???

Because why would they when they can just poach from everyone else? Kicking the kids out of Souths juniors doesn't stop that happening it just inconveniences families and pushes them towards other sports.

I think it's going to become a bigger issue for all sides many mothers don't want their children playing rugby league. Football will really grow with the change in demographics and it being a safe sport. Although I doubt that will translate at a senior level.

You're probably correct there, but personally I can't understand how anyone can watch soccer or afl.
