Easts junior league clubs

Who cares I say, sure junior development is fundamental but Souths and Easts basically share juniors, Easts supporters shouldn't be so butt hurt about Souths 'stealing' their teams and Souths supporters shouldn't be so high and mighty about having so many juniors.

Juniors don't help you win premierships anymore, it took us quite a while to realise that. Sure it's good to have the odd couple of juniors in your first grade squad and i believe most of the Souths Juniors in our squad have talent to be regulars in first grade, but it shouldn't be something you entirely pride your team on, it should be something to celebrate the junior development of your area and the people and players associated with it.

Not really. It's been a long time since we had any notable Souffs juniors, at least in first grade. unless you're still clinging to Anasta :sarcasm:

Regardless of who falls under what banner - even if Easts somehow regained a few clubs, I would be a fan of a combined Souths-Easts comp. Neither club has enough teams playing in teenage and open age groups to really stand alone.

Ideal scenario in my opinion (I doubt it would ever happen for various reasons) - Easts contribute running costs in return for regaining the Kensington, Coogee and Randwick areas, and recognition that it is a combined Souths-Easts comp.

Pretty much this

You're 100% right about juniors and the links to on field teams - there are none and not having juniors from a player pool point of view bothers me not one jot. I'd be happy if every team was Souths and none were Easts if that's all was at stake.

But what bothers me (and this has happened in my family) is people who live in Randwick, Coogee and Kensington etc choose to support Souths over Easts because Souths represent their suburbs. They basically think they live in South Sydney territory even when they live in the East.

Supporters are the life blood of any club and Easts hurt more than most by the effects of the influences of football, AFL and Rugby Union. We don't need fellow Rugby League clubs eating into our supporter base too.

That's what happened when we lost those areas and it nearly killed us. It may do yet.

That is why I hope the relationship with the Jets is a long term affair - so people in the Inner West can have a legitimate reason to support us now that Newtown aren't a top grade side and the Tigers have effectively moved from the Inner City.

I agree with what you're saying, to be fair a lot of people in Maroubra, La Perouse and Chifley/Malabar support the Roosters even though it's Souths 'territory'

There's too much confusion with the geography of the areas and who 'owns' what territory, as stated before there's Easts supporters in Rabbitohs territory and vice versa.

I think a big thing is that people who are introduced to rugby league are confused with the 'Sydney' moniker the Roosters have, and i think everyone agrees that it should be changed back to Eastern Suburbs.
