Demerging Wests Tigers would be easy for the East Tigers bid but it’d be a hard sell down south

Even if it were possible that the Wests Tigers would drop their brand for Easts I don't think it'd be a good outcome for anybody if it happened.

It'd just create a whole bunch of problems and infighting that is better avoided.

bit left field but what about conglomerate of BRL clubs and call them BRL something’s. Any BRL wanting buy in can be a part owner and feeder. Couldn’t get more grass roots than that. BRL United?

Imagine the fight for control of that club, it'd make the Norths-Manly merger look tame by comparison.

It'd be better to do it in name only. Have the club owned by one group, call the team Brisbane Untied, organise feeder deals with as many of the old BRL clubs as possible, and play up the old BRL angle in marketing.

This was obviously going to happen....

Just because 4 bids are dumb enough to announce 10 years early doesnt mean they will be the only choice. Im sure a few more are ready to go and just waiting for the formal process.

That is not even mentioning that the ARLC could create their own idea of the perfect club and hand it of later...

Brisbane Tigers would be a great brand in Brisbane. A great following all they have to do is Demerge the West Tigers an create the Brisbane Tigers a big following in Brisbane an Sydney. Alas the WESTERN SUBURBS MAGPIES ARISE FROM THE ASHES. Like Balmain are broke an all, an dont contribute money an owe millions any how. how good would this be.
Technically they are already are the magpies, very rarely are they showing to be wearin anything orange, always black or white, might aswell revert to being wests magpies, then they can merge with Canterbury and create a massive SW sydney super club, i can see it now "the WESTERN BULLDOGS"
Unique right?

The goanna comment was more of an aside, based on the lack of reptiles as mascots.

Really like the Tiger Snake idea, but can't think of a catchy name that would work at the moment.
Maybe Serpents?

South Brisbane Serpents with a tiger snake mascot and yellow and black colour scheme.

Now that I think about it though they'll probably call themselves the Roos, because they were the Coorparoo "Roos" before they changed their name to the Eastern Suburbs Tigers.

Maybe I'm misremembering, but I don't think that the Crushers didn't have anything to do with the BRL.
Long time ago and I'm not sure but they were a QRL owned and run outfit at the time, were seen as the BRL's answer to the Broncos, the people's team. Until they f*cked the dog.

Don't Easts Brisbane own the Broncos Leagues Club ?
No.

Owned by the Broncos which is owned by news.

Broncos use Norths, Redcliffe, Wynnum and Souths-Logan as feeders
Cowboys use, Townsville, Pride
Titans use Burleigh and Tweed
Storm use Falcons

Not sure on the others, but NSW teams only have one, except wests I think.

Canberra used Mounties, think that remains cannot remember.

If nothing else it will shake who is affliated to whom in QLD

Cowboys V Broncos lower grades round 1 2020.

Ipswich v Townsville @ North Ipswich
Mackay v Norths @ BB Print
Redcliffe v Falcons @ Dolphin Stadium
Burleigh v Wynnum @ Pizzey
Souths Logan v Mustangs/Hunters @ Davies
Tweed v Pride @ Piggabeen

Easts have a pretty big Leagues club in Coorparoo.
Yep big place, the state and Brisbane City Council just spent a tonne of money on a bus way to the east, big stop (Langlands Park) next to the Easts leagues club. So both state and BCC will be right behind this bid (They will be happy for Suncorp to be used and BCC buses to ferry people)

They may own the Carina Leagues club as well but I'm not sure. Carina Leagues has a Tigers on its logo though.
No, owned by members.

I definitely think the best option is to repurpose the of BRL Firsts Representitve teams...

Great old brand with 100+ years of history, it cannot offend any Brisbane locals since they never played against any other BRL/QRL clubs AND the old jersey looks f*ckin great

(red is massively underused in the comp, and they can throw in some green or something to put a bit of distance between them and the Broncos or Dragons)

Yeh, I would definitley do it in name only....

We dont need a rep from each BRL team to make the club representitive of Brisbane. The shit fight would be worse than WTs or NEagles.

The Board should be focused on this club ONLY. Not whether their other club is being fairly represented!!!

Brisbane Bats?

Should Easts win the can see them leaving just behind Cooparoo Hign School to go to Indooroopilly from Langlands park as they train.

Flying Foxes and Other Bats
There are over 20 known bat colonies in Brisbane with Indooroopilly Golf Club, Redcliffe Botanical Gardens and the City Botanical Gardens all known homes to the very important bat. Despite their critical importance to our ecosystem and pollination, bats are still carriers of Lyssavirus and you should avoid all close contact with bats and their excrement. Regardless, they are a wonderful native species and many locals enjoy watching them during their evening flight path from the airport west across Enoggera with roosting spots all the way to The Gap.

I doubt bats would poll well.

But live in Brisbane and you do see them, they live here.

When my daughter was born I lived in East Brisbane and walked my daughter and the dog every day at dusk literally along Norman creek past Langlands, as the bats flew overhead.

I'm pretty sure that there're still Brisbane rep sides in lower grades and juniors that more or less use this brand, or something extremely similar, or least they were until relatively recently. So even if you wanted too it's still in use and/or you'd have to get permission from the QRL.

Edit: It's definitely still in use-

There's nothing wrong with bats.

I like Bats, they're are cool.

Yeh, I had assumed that someone still held the rights to the branding, though I didnt know they still ran teams out in that jumper....

If the QRL demanded control as the price of the branding, that would be a bit of a spanner in the works, but i dont believe they would want that responsibility or conflict of interest. Im not going to pretend to know the internal politics of the QRL, but I can definitely imagine them signing over some IP rights.

It would probably require some brand differentiation from that flower logo above, but I have always preferred the original.

And, yeh, if worst comes to worst, just do a ripoff version of "Brisbane United RLFC". So, for the former legend/club ambassadors, just pick old players who were Brisbane locals and dont make any explicit comment about this Brisbane Firsts brand.

I still think its the best possible concept for Bris2..

They may not want control for it, but they'd definitely want something for it, especially since they are still using it.

This is RL that we are talking about after all.

Making a ripoff of the brand that is close enough to the original that it's recognisable would be inviting trouble, and at that point why go to all that trouble for a brand that most people don't remember let alone care about.

May as well just try to create something completely new and dodge the football politics, controversy of the worst kind, and potential lawsuits lol.

I had Venom in mind, but it does sound a bit like an XFL team.

Same issue arises with Bats as a mascot, Flyers maybe?

Maybe Balmain could join up with Easts. That way they can still keep their name, go back to their old logo and colours, Wests can go back to being the Magpies and there aren't 2 Tigers teams in the comp.

Everybody wins
