Of course they'll deny it. Same as the ARU denied making an offer to Andrew Johns, then after he told them to f* off people within the ARU said they were stunned he said no.

They initally denied making an offer to Andrew Johns.

If it comes out of the mouth of a RU official, it's more accurate to believe the opposite.

RU doesn't have a history of being honest.

Why is Sonny Bill Williams a legend? Why are you all applauding him? It was him who started all these rumours. His manager and him, trying to get his price up for his contract.

The NZRFU have denied having any contact with Williams, and saying it was a typical League "push up contract price" allegation.

If they were trying to push up his price then he would say that he is interested. Saying he is not interested in going to Rugby Union is hardly going to help him in getting a better price on his contract.

From what I've heard Sonny Bill was offered a $1 million contract with a spot in the All Blacks... If thats true I'd be VERY suprised to see him stay a doggie... Realistically, the dogs are the most disgraced club in the NRL at the moment (it's true) and if you are offered a chance to play with either that, or the most respected, feared and passionately supported international rugby team in the world who would you go for? It's a no brainer!
My guess is it's all bullshit, no real kiwi would turn down a big money contract and a guaranteed 13 tests a year with a team like the All Blacks after S12 and NPC... It's got to be rubbish.

maybe he actually just does enjoy playing league? not everyone is ruled by money. 1 million bucks seems rather rich coming from rugby. mmmm who knows. i hope he stays in league tho, hes such a joy to watch!

id like to welcome you to the era of professional sports where money talks. Loyalty died about 10years ago. I'd like to see Sonny stay in league but, if union came knocking with a $1million plus offer, i'd think he would be lost to the game. It's sad but true.

yeh i guess. i would like to think that joey stayed with league out of loyalty but didnt he sign some big contract with ch 9 or something??

This is because a last minute deal by the NRL, Knights and Nine Network set up a HUGE load of cash. The Knights on their own would never have signed him. Simple.
