Maybe I'm giving him too much credit here, but he went right back to the gameplan he used to use with the Brumbies that got him the national job in the first place.
He had the Brumbies playing as close to League as is possible under Union rules, and he went back to that plan last night.
He has the guys doing hitups all night if they can. Run the ball at the opposition, form a maul, lay the ball back - do it all again, and again, and again - just like League tackles. He even has his two wingers coming in to do their share of the hitups, just like the modern trend in League.
Eddie has kept that gameplan under wraps since he was appointed national coach, but he has slowly built up the personel to put it all together. He has Gregan drilled in the game plan and he has put together hard running backs and forwards as well.
When he first got the job as national coach all said he would make the national side play like the Brumbies. He hasn't done it, till now. Maybe he has timed it just how he wanted to.
