A few of us are going to the Rising Sun Hotel in Richmond to watch the Eels game Sat night. They get a live feed from Sydney !

Otherwise it's a 12.10am CH9 replay or a 9am Sunday Poxtel replay. Pathetic !

Illegal that's a tough one because rarely do we get NRL at that Stadium.
What I did hear is that they are bringing in these 'temporary stands' that will bring the crowd in closer to the field which is a great idea.
The joint holds approx 55K.

just on this topic, I cannot believe the shafting that Channel 9 have dealt the non-core states such as Vic, SA, WA etc.

Roy Masters suggested on ABC's Offsiders last Sunday that Foxtel offered to pay Channel 9 for the right to broadcast the finals into ONLY these states and Channel 9 told them where to go, just so they could take these premium quality matches and either do nothing with them or put them on in the dead of night, in exchange for some crapola movie or something equally vital.

If the NRL were serious about being a national league, they'd make sure they got a better deal for those non core states.

yeah, i was pretty appalled. I can almost understand Channel 9 not wanting to play the matches live in prime time, but at least come to an agreement with Foxtel who are keen to look after the product that they have spent so much of their own cash investing in. This is what Foxtel and Channels 7 & 9 have come up with for AFL. The NRL should be pushing much harder on this.

Anyway, in the meantime, Rising Sun Hotel here we come...

It's an absolute outrage.
What a joke that we call it the 'National' Rugby League and people in another state can't view the game until around midnight. Plus I pay to have Foxtel, however because they don't have the rights to the Friday/Sunday and finals games, they can't screen the matches before Nine does.
BUT....nine doesn't even show the games live in Melbourne !!!
Victorians are mad about sport and alot would actually watch the game if Nine screened it at say 10.30pm for example which is after AFL and primetime.

So anyway Bradeel I'll buy U a beer at the Riser !

a few of us were at the Rising Sun and were annoyed to find out that whilst the pub was showing Imparja, which is the usual carrier of the special live feed into Melbourne, Imparja itself was showing AFL instead!! Apparently they were playing it at 10.30pm instead of live so there was absolutely no way that anyone could watch live in Melbourne!!

Anyway, just watched the game now without knowing the result on Melbourne Channel 9. A very very happy Eels supporter despite the frustration. Looking forward to Telstra Dome next Sunday.

hahah exactly. I generally try to fly back to Sydney for the big occasions like tonight but couldn't this weekend. Looked like great atmosphere. I reckon we have killed off a few demons from that Prelim Final against the Dogs in '98 with that one. Now next week, we can exorcise some spirits from the '99 Prelim Final that we butchered against the Storm ...
