Just a few standouts for the Mathews game were:

Jarrod Hayne again this kid is brilliant brilliant brilliant I've said it before and I'll say it again they can't get any better at this age than this kid, this kid will be playing 1st grade for sure. He is big and fast for a fullback has an awsome step and if thats not good enough he has a swirve as well, Great skill and backs up the ball carrier as all good fullbacks should do. Burt and Hodgo may want to take note as well that the kid can tackle pulled off two 1 on 1 try savers so he is not a speed hump.

Tim Mannah- The big fella was awesome.

Kris Keating 5/8- excellent at 5/8

The big no.17 of the bench cant remember his name but he was unstoppable.

Tony Williams the winger-reminds me of Tiquiri in the way he plays.

The whole team played very well, but these guys stood out.
Is Jarryd Haynes the son of Shayne, the best ref in the NRL ?????

No, otherwise his name woulda been Wayne Haynes or something like that (whoops, heres another one of my stoopid comments...)

Well Jarryd is a Different name isn't it. You wouldn't name a kid Jaryd unless you wanted him to be tough would ya. Whats wrong with good old fashioned names like PETER. (the rock)

Another player to watch.. Illawarra kid named Ben Jeffrey.. From Riverina is a sensational player with huge wraps. Rated the best thing to come out of Riverina since Laurie Daley. Think he is about 16 or 17.

Just on another note my mate (bulldogs supporter) and I sat behind the bulldog coaching staff in the grand stand at St Marys and my mate saw the Bulldog officials putting marks next parra players names and saying how good they are. I hope Parra have these guys tied to contracts as clubs are taking notice.

No. Parra are out looking for St George and Souths rejects from first division or Jersey Flegg.

Of course other Clubs are taking notice. They know that Parra is the best nursery of junior talent in the NRL. Would be disappointed if they didn't take notice. But you can't hold onto them all. That is not the nature of the game. The kids have to take opportunities as they come along. Blake Green is a prime example. He is a great player of the future but where does he sit in the pecking order? We have Dykes, Witt, Tim Smith ahead of him. Do you hang onto him to stop other Clubs getting him... or do you let him shop around??
The unsung hero at Parramatta is a bloke name John Hutchinson, the Club's welfare officer. What he has done for the players at the Eels is UNBELIEVABLE. With John there, the Eels have something to offer players that other Clubs don't.
His guidance is invaluable. He offers them opportunity for life after football.

Jake: Last week v Sharks #17 was Joseph Mataele now I think that he might have been #17 this week although I missed the game just juding on your comments on him.

against the Sharks almost each time in hit the ball up he'd beat a minimum for 3 tackles.

Thats him Joseph Matale, God that guy is an animal.

Blake Green is an excellent player but he plays in the S.G Ball as a 5/8. He was elevated to Jersey Flegg amd played beside Tim Smith recently just for only game.

I have never seen so many stars in our Junior Grades come through like this before, We should keep all of them, as in a couple of years they will be playing 1st grade.

The List of star Juniors that we have coming up are:

**Tim Smith-half
**Feleti Mateo-lock / 5/8
Weller Huaraki-Prop
Josh Cordoba-Prop
Jack Afsamanga-2nd row
Ben Smith-3/4
Brett Anderson-3/4

SG ball
**Blake Green-5/8

Harold Mathews
**Jarryd Hayne- He is a good Fullback
Tim Mannah-prop
Keating-5/8
Tony Williams-Wing
Joe Matale-Prop

**Denotes: Superstars of the future.

Haha they ended up signing three of them (Keating, Hodkinson and Williams) and keep trying to get Hayne. Ah nostalgia...

Well they still took a while to get them, in fact with two of them they had to get a coach from Manly first to get two of them from Manly.

Looks like you were a bit bored last night Pou, digging up all these old threads.

I'm pretty sure I was commenting on plenty of threads back then with our failure to win the play the ball area!

After realising Fui was about to hit 200 NRL games next week (probably) I was looking for a thread about his debut. This other thread about the Harold Matts team is from about the same time.

Brian Smith had a great 'academy'. Hagan tore it down brick by brick and it took Kearney to come in and rebuild it with the sweat of his massive brow.

It's good to see some of the fruits from DA's academy finally starting to ripen.
Not too sure about Kearneys academy. I guess we will see.

 Quality bump, Jake was spot on about Hayne.

Yeah but he always thought every young player was destined to be one of the greats. He also thought Blake Green and Tim Smith would be "Superstars".

I remember reading how many certain stars we had in our junior ranks, if you shoot a machine gun long enough you will hit something.
