Messy stuff as the ref calls play back multiple times in the one Melbourne play-the-ball.

Apparently there is 2min left on the official clock as Fox has messed up with their clock.

Brain snap for Matterson there. He goes for a charge down but collects the kicker with his rump.

Penalty for the Storm in what should be the game winning set for them.

The merkins commentating have been willing the Storm home all game, thought they were supposed to be neutral, like listening to Gus when the Panfers are playing

Matterson goes on report for the challenge.

Melbourne take the kick for touch.

They nearly ice the game with another powerful try to one of their piggies but Parra somehow manage to hold him up over the line.

The Storm run the ball from dummy half on the last as the full time siren rings out.

Full Time

Melbourne dft. Parra 26-22

Second half capitulation there as we threw away a 16-point lead.

Really disappointing result there. We were terrible in the opening and closing exchanges and didn't deserve the win.

Moeroa was our best for mine. Powerful efforts in attack and defence without too much support from his cohorts in the forward pack. Love his never say die attitude.

Matterson and Davis had moments of class but we just about played without the ball in the second half.

On reflection the game started to turn when the replacement forwards were on, ummmm, couldn't get momentum back

Very ordinary overall, disappointing as they appeared to be think it was all over once they got
in front...

When they went direct through the middle of us they were making up to 90 metres a set, that's ridiculous! Then a good kicking game was giving them repeat set after repeat set.

The ruck was atrocious in that game. Typical Melbourne game where they were allowed to lay all over the players and slow down the play the ball.

That said Alec Bush, Jack Anderson and Markus are ordinary defenders. Newbigging and Moeroa had a lot of work to do. Didn't mind young Raeli. Lack of urgency from the back three on kicks was the biggest issue. So many times caught out of position and no urgency to get to the ball.

The challenge was an odd one but no use having any at the end of the game and it allowed them a bit more time to regroup.

I really think Clay needs to play 9. He will never be an NRL 7. His strength is his running game his defence is ok. Play him there and see if he develops as doesn't have the vision, decision making or kicking game for the halves.

Clay is so frustrating. He looked to be coming on quite nicely this year - taking plenty of correct options and executing a good kicking game but he has come undone recently. He still has a year to run in the NYC so perhaps he may have a future as a half, although as you point out it may just be for the best to run him as a hooker.

ZDC passing game is barely under 11's standard, his running game is very good and his kicking game is ok. Can't see him making it anywhere in the halves.

Ryan matterson was slapped with a grade 4 charge from yesterday's game, I think it might of been attacking the legs of an opponent from a kick..

He could be missing for 4 games

yeah i remember that - he jumped to charge down the kick - his body turned and his bum got the guy in the head ...... pretty harsh to get 4 weeks for that ... it was totally accidental - even 1 week would be a bit harsh (tho I guess you have to protect a kicker)
