Individually he may have been better but as far as what was best for the team, I’d argue wing was the best fit because it allowed Guth to be more involved. His lack of metres rucking the ball out didn’t seem to impact us too much, particularly with our other outside backs able to do this early in the set.

Will it be same w/o Semi ?

I actually think French is a better attacking player than Gutherson, so we're better off with French more involved in our attack. Assuming his work rate is up to the extra involvement. Arthur's comments indicate it is.

He’s definitely faster but I reckon Guth is the better attacking player (I haven’t looked at the stats though).

No he hasn't. He's been a very good finisher, and safe against the kick, but his lack of go forward has hurt us on the wing. Teams bomb to him because they know our sets will start poorly.
If French can't make it at fullback he will never be a star on the wing.

He might not ever be a star, fullstop. And his lack of go-forward may or may not have hurt us, but you have to factor in the number of tries he has scored or helped to score, when appraising his value as a winger. My opinion is that he was, overall, the best winger in our club last year apart from Semi.

That's my thinking, too. Also, with reports that he is training the house down and has bulked up a bit, he might be an even better winger.

Sure, but after Semi Radradra we weren’t real strong on the wing last year.
